Can't help you with the water pipes I'm afraid but the general consensus w/oil temps is that you don't get an accurate reading from a sandwich plate. The most accurate way to monitor is to drill the sump pan and weld a mount for a sensor in.

The difference will be so small it'll be irrelevant. Sandwich plates are perfectly acceptable.

For water temp, if keeping the OEM gauge, you'll need an adaptor that fits to the water hose, 32mm. Merlin Motorsport or ebay. About £12. The engine-rad hose will be on the N/S of the engine bay.

pete ive heard of peeps with SW plates on a rev1/2 getting oil temps readings of 130-150C.....!!
when i relocated the filter on my old rev2 highest i saw was 90-95c! which is FAR more accurate than 130-150C.

so safe to say it does majorly heatsoak in that area on a rev1/2.

The temp sensor sits too close to the down pipe on a Rev 2. And you'll be lucky to fit the pressure sensors in that location if its one of the big ones.

OK, point taken, so nothing to do with actual oil temps.. The readings are being influenced by external factor. And the OP did not specify a Revision.

Pete I went on the fact that his garage link in his avatar says 1990, so revision 1 :eye:
Yeh temp readings being influenced from the crazy hot area around the turbo and Downpipe

Ideally temps should be taken at the sump if you can. And I guess pressure also, tho you can take that at the stock oil pressure location.

On rev3+, sandwich plate is ideal as the filter is in a much better location for readings. It's basically at the sump.

if you want gauges, the first thing you should really be looking at is boost and oil temp...
pressure and water temp are secondary to these.

either way, take oil pressure from a tpiece at the stock oil pressure location.

and water temp, i guess one of the hoses from the rad.

tho not seen many folk do this, so not sure on size...

Radiator out is a good place for Water temps as the drop will be minimal to the the engine bay and wont be influenced by the hot bay.

Sandwhich plate on rev1/2 for pressure is V tight and not recomended if you have the autoguage type sender.

You are best off running an extension line from the stock oil pressure location and using a T peice for the stock reading and your pressure reading

DO NOT use a T peice straight off the stock location as its not strong enough to support the weight of both senders and will break and loose you all your oil in less than 5 seconds flat at 3+bar and wreck your engine.

its reading between 60 and 70 deg c..
i will take some pics in work tomorrow
