what mpg do people get?

Post by bobbyh »

so during mixed driving, 8 miles round M60 to work and then back each day.
after 180 miles, the car took 30litres to fill to brimming.

this works out around 22.5mpg!

quite shocked to be fair.

prev cars:-

Ur quattro - 2.2litre turbo 220bhp = 22mpg
VR6 Golf 2.8litre V6 174bhp =20mpg

and i am not bouncing off the rev limiter in each gear..

just wondering what others got.

WHAT, I get 280 mile out of 30 squids of V-power.

If im very low ie fuel light on and I fill it up i get 320 miles out it which is 20 more since I went to nothing but V-power.

I did work it out a while ago and I was getting 35+mpg and ive always got the foot down

How do you guys get 35+ mpg??

I get around 20 which is alot of town driving and maybe 25-30 if cruising at 70mph.

My car is running spot on also as i had it rolling roaded not to long ago to check. Even my 125bhp 1.6 16v C2 VTS only returns 31mpg.

I get 7l/100km on the highway and 9 or 10l/100km in city/rush hour driving.

Should be 30-40 uk mpg.

when i used to have one before on long runs down from birmingham to portsmouth i regularly used to see 35+ and that was with 2 big blokes in the car and hardly any room as there was so much kit in the car. The car was Sweet as a nut though.

The only thing i havnt had checked or replaced on my car would be the ECU and the fuel pressure regulator. Everything else is perfect so where else should i be looking to get 35+ mpg.

Suckin vapour? Nope, I've still got ~7 litres in when that first lights up.
Can easily get 35mpg from it. Unless I'm being silly with the loud pedal. Tend not to work it out if I've been thrashing it around. Got only 120 miles out of the tank once doing a trackday. Ouch.

I can easy get 280 from a full tank before the warning light comes on motorway driving.

I had more a few weeks back going to and from Northampton at 65-70mph, can't remember what the figures were exactly but it worked out as around 43mpg if I remember correctly.

Currently I'm getting
33.6 Mpg average from bog standard 95 RON (over 1,500 miles)
34.2 Mpg average from V-Power (Over 900 miles)

Both of those are mixed driving, some motorways, limited town use and as many B-Roads as possible. I'm not a slow driver, but I am fairly smooth. Where did I put that trumpet?

17Mpg on track, where I really was revving the car as hard as possible.

That's on a standard car, standard wheels and tyres and 118,000 miles.

If you're getting significantly less than that, check tracking, tyre pressures, general service items and brakes for any binding etc.
