wet floors

Post by weasilfreak »

for the past two weeks my car has been letting in loads of water on the passenger side and the footwell is now sopping. I have sealed the T bar roof which has kept the seat dry and is no longer leaking from there but the carpet still gets soaked and it looks like water is running down the front edge of the doorcard (near the speaker grill) from somewhere then dripping on to the carpet. Has anyone had this problem and more importantly, did they solve it and how? the car is a 92 NA TBar.

cheers fro any help

Al

I've noticed the same with mine lately but I put it down to the freakish weather. I've found that my tbar leaks minimal, only in really bad storms, but because the winds are that high, its actually blowing water in under the passenger door.

me too :(
noticed my drivers side floor was soaking a while back so did a bit of investigating with peter
peter was upside down in the drivers side (was quite comical really  ) while i poured water on the outside
it was running down the inside of the tbar seal on the a pillar, right down to the bottom and across to the footwell
hoping my new tbar seals will cure this

wet floors and t bars go together lots of probs with leaky t bars, ive read quick fix use clear silicone around the seals, then save up i think t bar seals are expensive :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Rogue just diagnosed my wet passenger floor exactly the same as Jays. I watched inside with the carpets out whilst the water came in. Inside the seal down the A-pillar. Likewise I've new seals on the way (buy from the US and they're not too bad) to cure.
Considering they lasted 19yrs (well maybe 15yrs, I think they've leaked gradually for a few yrs before now) and only cost £100 per side delivered (I'm doing both but could leave it at one) I don't think thats too bad for the extra dimension of roof off driving.

Got all the new seals today. That's not bad, from the US to my door in 11/12days. I'll try to get them on in the next week and report back on hopeful success and dry floors.

PS. Got yours on yet Jay?

Considering I just got mine it doesn't seem to have caused me any real problem with this horrible spate of British weather we're going through. Will be watching my floors carefully though.

Good luck and hope it all goes well with the transfer guys.

Just got to keep holding out hope for the summer.

Unless your windows aren't aligned well and/or your bodyshell isn't straight, it should certainly work. Get some silcone spray lubricant from Halfrauds to keep them tip top so it doesn't happen again :thumleft:

Fitted mine today so I'll be keeping an eye over the next few weeks. One (n/s) side was definitely shot, perished at the very top of the A pillar/roof so hopefully these will cure it now. Once we'd got the interior trim off you could see the path the water had been taking down the inside!!

i had hoped it was this but it has only leaked in the past two weeks after i took the trim off to repair a rust spot, ironically because i thought the rust might let water through!!

Does your heater work OK? If not it could be the heater matrix. If it does get the carpets out and get someone to play a hose v slowly over the roof, door and windscreen. Give it time.
Should be able to see it with everything out. The doors have rain channels.. check for blockages. Side window mis-alignment should be considered. Windscreen incorrectly fitted? It's surprising sometimes the path water will find.
Hope you find it. Hope you sort it.
