[Mk2] [NA] remote central locking
without having to fit an aftermarket alarm what is the easiest way of upgrading my standard central locking to be remote operated ive seen the kits on ebay are these any good??
Re: [Mk2] [NA] remote central locking
if you run a search mate, some one has done this quite recently.
If i remember correctly, he bought a kit with 4 poppers/solenoids, the fob, and the reciver.

turned out that only the reciever
(or
'brain' as he reffered to it) and the fob were the only important parts needed.

The central locking already has the release mech
(the popper or solenoid)
and just needs to be wired in to the brain from the kit.

Or something like that

Hope that helps

Re: [Mk2] [NA] remote central locking
I added one of these to my car a while ago, but had to take it off again as it didn't turn the car alarm off when operated.
All I can think is that I didn't wire it in correctly.
I wired it to the internal switches and I am guessing that those don't switch the alarm off once it is set using the key.
I am guessing I should have wired it to the lock and not the switches.

If at first you don't succeed.
