Spotted this while idly browsing ebay. Given the rarity of black mk1s, is this still around does anyone know?
Link if anyone wants the poster for their collection: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-MR2-T-Bar- ... 240%3A1318

Oh, pity. So even if it was around, it wouldn't have that UK plate on it and the owner would have no idea of their car's famous beginings!
Just out of curiosity, where did you get that info from?
Slight aside from this thread, but I've got a few bits of original mk1 marketing materials I was considering printing onto canvas, mostly to put on my own walls (particularly the 'mk1 on the grand canyon' shot, if anyone knows it). I had considered fleabaying a few but shied away from copyright issues - obviously doesn't bother this fella though - does anyone know the score?

Ooh another Black Mk1, would make a nice spare race car...
But then I wouldn't mind the A35, dump the (purchase tax dodging) windows and make it a Wallace & Grommit van
IMOC - winners of JAE best overall club stand 2010, 2013, 2014 & 2017! 1994 GT-S T-Bar 397bhp with NOS *sold* 2016 Porsche Cayman 981GTS 347bhp Flat Six
How wierd...
I guess we'll never know which car it is then. Pity. /Cue people with black T-tops staking their claim to fame
Yours looks really nice though Jinxy

think youd get done for copyright infringment if you did them on ebay but im sure that a small run for imoc members wouldnt go amiss if you did them at cost
Well it is for sale, but Tiny has first dibs at the moment as he has already shown an interest in it, watch this space, if Tiny decides he wants it then im sure he'll show off his new Mk1, if not then im sure it will find a new owner on here sooner or later. P.S did you see how close the reg is on my black MK1 compared to the one at the start of this thread ? , Jinx

Yeah I spotted that... I suppose a lot of the black ones would have rolled off the production line together then?
Maybe they just did one or two batches, which would explain how rare they are
Im reliably told there were 8 mk1b's in black, apparently black wasnt a mk1'b colour, but it was availible only as a special order & it would have cost a fortune to have done, hence the reason they are so few, if anyone knows any different to that i'd love to hear it, but that did come from a reliable source , Jinxy

I have big plans for it (you have email jinxy)
Its staying completely stock (maybe a magnex but thats it) full respray in its original colour depending on how much restoration is required. I may have the interior retrimmed in leather depends on the mrs tbh and how much she will let me play with it.

I can quite understand that there may have been a limited number of them for whatever reason, but I think it would be more like 8 hundred.
Especially since I have 2 genuine mk1b bonnets in black - that would mean that including the one you have, the one in this ad, the one in the ad I have (Another ebay poster - G305 FTH) and the 2 or 3 others i've seen sell over the past year - There are none left!
