Was it ever writen off?

I had a Cat D prelude that I had to get this test done to make sure its still roadworthy and not a cut and shut. Wasnt a big deal, paid £30 at the nearest VOSA station and 20 mins later I was sorted.

I thought for old cars i.e. older than 10 years they don't need an SVA, MOT is sufficient? I know fresh new imports need SVA's. I'm sure if your car shows up on the DVLA database then its all legal as far as they are concerned, especially as it has an MOT. Try another insurnace company.

SVA are left hand drive cars (which have been removed now anyways)
for all RHD cars newer than 10 years the Law states that you are required to complete an ESVA test which requires a Model report, (sadly no model report was ever created for the MR2 :( )
so i think your local DVLA office may have their wires crossed unless as stated your car was a cat D ?
if you need more information please feel free to PM me and i will help as much as i can
cheers Syrus

i think my insurance company have got there wires crossed they asked for my number plate k355 wdd , they might have been mistaken and thought it was a 55 plate.i spoke to a import garage today and they also said if your car is over 10 years old you dont need an sva.cheers for you help.

Correct - MOT it - insure it and drive. That is it. No evsa required either.
