Wasnt actually aware this car got finished!

Who owns it now?

Pete, any clues on the build? Was it twin supercharged?

Any ideas on how it runs?

No dyno has been produced for that car as far as I'm aware.

I'm sure the seller is the same people that did the all the engine work. IIRC, he sold it to them last year just before JAE???

Got a reply

Due to the nexessity to consistently monitor the output of the MR2, we invested in a yaw meter to measure the power, otherwise it would have cost a small fortune in rolling road bills. The last meter reading that was taken read 252hp and it has had a small amount of tweaking since, so we will guarantee a reading of at least 250 or above. The performance speaks for itself - as im sure you know, a cars performance isnt always about figures - anyone can tune an engine, but to built the rest of the car to suit is something else - and this car has it all. If you are interested, please contact me and we can arrange a viewing. Many thanks for your interest... Matt

NO DYNO RUN!

I'm not sure on the accuracy of the yaw meters, but :^o

Still... it looks pretty mint, and anything over 200bhp in a mk1 is awesome.

I like it... probably want a small fortune though. Anything over £3500 is gonna be too much. As you can drop a v6 in for that (probs less).

What an odd advert :?

I also find it unbelievable that it hasn't been rolling roaded :?

If I had spent that much money on my engine the first place I would be taking it is to be dynoed to see what I had got.

I agree with you Tom. What a wierd way to go about selling anything.

I find the answer to Tim's question more like something off of "question time". The sound more like Gordon Brown's potential replacement than a car seller.

I also find hard to believe that no-one has ever put it on a rolling road, even if just a dyno day.

Doesn't a yaw meter use the g-force and 0-60 times to work out a bhp measurement. if this is the case I wonder how a stock car would measure up as the mk1 was always good off the line with its mid-engine layout. the mid-engine layout is probably worth 1.5-2 seconds off the 0-60 compared to a front wheel drive car with the same power and weight.

OK, somebodys lying

jap performance wrote:With Trac-Art on the case for 11 months until just before Christmas 2005, the MR2 is, well, two thirds finished. In January, on the rolling road at Honda specialist CPL Racing (whose turbocharged Civic Type-R was our cover car in the January 2006 issue), [owner]'s car gave 168bhp and 155lb/ft torque at the wheels

from what I've now read, they did all the engine work, cams, big valves, fensport pulley etc etc etc and got 168bhp *snigger*

So they must have put the 2nd supercharger on it.

All i know about this car being up for sale is that the current owner phoned me whilst i was in LeMans in June asking if i knew anything about the car, he had taken it from Trac art as surety against some work they wanted done, needless to say the they never paid him so the car was passed over to him as payment & i believe Trac art no longer trade.
I phoned Pete to let him know the car was up for sale long before it appreared on ebay, not sure why he didnt buy it back but i would imagine cost was the issue as the owner hinted he wanted between 4 - 5 grand for it  as it owes him at least that much for the work he done for Trac art, there ends the story, my only advice to anyone purchasing it is to make sure that its actually the owners car to sell & that it legally belongs to them :-k , Jinxy

Hmmm..buyer beware :-k

There are lots of things I don't like about this listing. I think I might ask the seller a few pertinent questions.

I'm not trying to help the seller but all i know is that it was quicker than my sc with over size pulley fitted.
I gave it what i could flat out from a roundabout and i couldn't keep near it
That's probably another reason why i decided to turbo mine :D
It is a fast car but reliability wise, who knows :!:

its not my car anymore but before you start slagging it off get some facts right

it got 168hp at the wheels on the rolling road with detonation and original ecu etc

it has since then had a full ecu on it and re mapped anda few other choice mods, dizzy removed etc
the power is soooo much more than before the ecu. believe me i should know i had enough run ins with much bigger cars with this

i was gonna say that it was good to see it and hope it goes to a good home
please don't put people off this if you have never been in it..
i have lost contact with the owner and i am not trying to sell it for him..
but please do not slag off someones hard work. do you know how much effort i put into that car..... nice ot know thhe mk1 club spirit is still alive

stonking car and thinkin about getting it back

I don't think people can deny the work that has gone into that car. :thumleft:

Simple fact is that a dyno run is cheap as chips, and you'd have thought they would just get one done so they can catagorically state the capability of the car - not just speculate.

in answer to yourr question when it went on the rollers with standard ecu it detonated and blew the head gasket.
it was then re done and ecu fitted and re line put up to 9k
it went like an apsolute beast it has never been a problem since then that was 2 years +ago now

i do miss it :-k :-k

and in answer the second charger was never fitted.. mainly due to it would need more chassis strengthening to handle more power comming off the line after i saw a vid of me launchin it

What facts?

I was told by the mechanic the car had never been on a dyno, hence the "somebodys lying"

Everything I wrote was what I was informed by the owner, and the article.

I'm sorry for not having a crystal ball to look back in the past and see that,
I will check ebay for one so I wont encounter a similar problem again.
