[Mk2] [Turbo] Polly mounts

Post by Tasty »

Hi all, just changed my mounts for pollys, more vibration at idle, but thats ok,trouble is at about 4000revs its impossible to see out of the rear,as the vibs almost shake the glass out.On the plus side the car feels much more tight and responsive,it inspires confidence,I`ve even had the tyres screaching. If the vibs don`t calm down I`ll try a trd mount in place of the front mount.Anybody had a similar experience? :D :D :D

Yeah I have a set of speed source pollys. The vibes in my car center around 1300 and smooth out above that. Try loosening the through bolts front and rear take the car around the block gently then re tighten the bolts. I fount that helped a bit.

My poly engine mounts are a bit more vibration at standard idle speed, makes all the mirrors shake, i tiny poke of the accelerator and it stops the vibration, feels a bit more throughout the range, but i have had it done a while now and only really notice it when idleing.

My old tubby had TRD mounts and they weren't too bad at all. Definitely not quite as smooth as stock mounts, buy they make a nice difference to the responsiveness of the engine.
My mate [Chr15py] has poly mounts and they are pretty intrusive at idle and up to about 2000rpm. Above that they're fine.

Don't have any pics at the minute. The poly engine mounts are red and as mattcambs said, they are "quite" intrusive at idle and up to 2k revs max. After that, you just dont notice it at all apart from the engine seeming to be more responsive - seemingly every throttle movement feels stronger :-)
Will say one thing though....if you have a quiet exhaust, get some of these!!! I have a silent hipower exhaust and it went from being uber quiet to a nice sound - dont know how but immediately noticed it :-)

Mr Rapey Banana WILL get you...oh yes! :)
