hampshire air show PLEASE READ ALL WHO REPLIED

Post by crazylegs »

following the elvetham car show our name has been put forward to the organisers of the hampshire air show. they are planing to display some classic(ish) cars at the show. if you fancy the day out then put your name down and i will try and get it arranged. i have copied the email here for you to have a look at.

Lasham Gliding Society is inviting people from across the Southern Counties to join them at its airfield near Alton on September 6th, and is planning ground and air displays, aerobatics, classic cars, stalls, vendors and at 6pm, a mass hot air balloon launch. The event grew out of the UK Sailplane Grand Prix, being held at Lasham during the first week of September, and the club decided to build a full air show and open day around its final race. A Chinook from RAF Odiham, a 757 from DHL, a Bleriot from Brooklands Museum, classic war birds and some awesome aerobatics will be joined by almost 100 aircraft on the ground and in the air.

We are adding a display of classic and vintage vehicles to the list of things to see, and the organisers of the Elvetham Heath car show suggested we contact some of its supporters. We plan a display of around 50 vehicles, which will need to be on site by 9am on Saturday 6th and stay until 6pm when the event finishes. Admission in advance is £5 and £10 on the gate, but there will be no charge for displaying vehicles.

you will need to be quick so make a decision soon and i will see how many places we can get. it will be a first pay gets a ticket basis if i can sort it out.

as a fixed wing pilot myself (ppl, IR, aerobatics, multi engine etc) I'd love to come over but that date seems to be the most popular of the family calendar this summer! we've already turned down several events that day for a very good friends 25th wedding anniversary over Glastonbury way

sounds good though and I wish you the best for the event
Unless I'm very much mistaken...

Sounds interesting but I'm not sure if I'll be around that weekend at the moment.

How many people do you need to make it a go-er?
When do you need to know for definite?

Kev, where exactly in Hampshire is it?

I may be back on the road by then, well, I ought to be, but knowing where it is would help me make my mind up.

Cheers

I'll do it - sounds like fun, haven't been to an air show for years.

We are away in Cornwall from Tuesday Wednesday next week but will be back by then.

I'd love to come to this Kev, but im away in Scotland on the club run begining of sept otherwise i would be there, hope you get plenty of support for this though, it sounds like a great combination with plenty to keep you occupied which seems to be lacking in many shows around at the moment  good luck, Jinx

ok people, this is the update.
I need details of anyone who is intending to go, not might be. INTENDING to go. I have arranged FREE entry but we will not get this again if its cocked up. I need a FIRM commitment.
I need vehicle types, colour and registration numbers, owners’ mobile/tel numbers & email addresses this is for the organisers to issue the airfield passes. You will be expected to be there all day where possible until around 6pm.
Please do not reply if you cant be sure of attending or can only go for a couple of hours. Send me a pm with the detail and I can get it arranged. I must have everything by Friday/Sat. This should be a really good day out with possibilities of similar events for the club in future so lets get it right.

I'm working on her indoors Kev, as we have a car meet and a family thing going on the sunday. I have the sorted the car out, I think, but won't be road tested until I get some tax probably on Friday.
At the moment its a maybe but thats no good to you. I will let you know properly later on in the week.

I do know how difficult this can be though, trying to get an event off the ground, so i sympathise.
