[Mk2] [Turbo] Very odd Idle

Post by Tiny »

well i have done a search and couldnt really find anything to help.

My Rev2 tubby when warm its almost like it carrys on trying to warm up the car and idles anywhere between 1100 to 1800 i have checked for loose connections and error codes but nothing apart from flashing everything is ok my coolant is at the right level and my oils allright.

I honestly dont know what else to check. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions of what to check or possible causes.

Could be your idle stability control valve. Check the electrical plug to it and give it and the terminals a clean.

1) Thermostat bust? Is your fuel consumption worse than normal?
2) Throttle body blocked
3) Idle control valve adjusted too much?
Running: 313.8BHP @ fly and 285lb torque on 1.15bar.

It's worth removing the throttle body and giving it a clean up. Take of the idle control valve and make sure the holes and magnet is free of gunk.

If you CERTAIN there isn't any air leaks the idle can be adjusted by a flat head screw just above the inlet on the throttle body.

Found the problem

Basically the HKS inlet adapter seal big square of soft rubber that sits behind it and goes onto the mating face of th AFM there was no cut out for the Idle port at the side and when the rubber had got hot it had bent and covered the idle port one quick dissasembly cut rubber for the port a thorough degrease clean and relube later

1 perfect 800rpm idle 8)

cheers for the advice and help chaps.
