So it maxed out the dyno at 750hp at the wheels on 99ron fuel at 1.8bar!

Thats massive power! sergei on mr2oc had to run 2.5bar on RACE FUEL to get the same!

I think you got a potential 9sec car!

So does it scare you?

Of course it scares me. It's a whole new ball game with this car.
Anyway, the figures are academic and what it can do down the strip,
we'll have to wait and see.

If i haven't got the balls to do it then i'll ask someone else to do it.

The car still has a few problems (nothing to do with the engine)
to sort out.

as1833, the car is a fresh import, not registered yet.

Interested?

Why you thinking of selling?? I'm sure there are a few people on here who would be sorely tempted! ;-)

Well, after the mapping and one of the fuel pumps changed, i was
ready to collect the car. The next day i was told that the clutch
woudn't disengage. Funny i thought as nothing was mentioned
after the mapping was done.

It was decided later that the gearbox has got to come out to determine
what the cause was.

Today, the dreaded news that the bolts that hold the os giken flywheel
to the crank had somehow come loose and as a result damaged the
crank and the flywheel.

Not a good start to mr2 ownership :(

Hmmm that is strange - did they take it for a test after they spoke to you? I would have though the rattle would have been overwhelming....

Just thank your lucky stars that the flywheel never broke up because if it had you'd be stuck with a wrote off car at the minute.

I still think a damaged crank and flywheel is a pretty bad outcome.

That realyl sucks James, I'm soprry to hear that. I had very high hopes for this car, guess we'll just have to wait that little bit longer to see what it can do.

That's the trouble with highly tuned cars - reliability and the likelihood something might always pop. #-o Getting both power and a sorted car is hard. Sorry to hear it mate, hope you can fix it OK.

Flywheel bolts coming out is hardly your normal "high spec" failure point.

Agreed, but I just think there is always something on highly tuned cars, normal or not!!

Was going to put the repair on hold as i wasn't planning on spending
this much yet. However, there may be someone i can be thankful to.

A pic of the damaged crank:

A 5sfe crank costs £500 and the os giken flywheel about £300 plus
other bits. So a good £1000 at least.
Hopefully, the crank is repairable.
Also, found out that the HKS forged crank is £1400 :pale:

How much, please? I assume they are second hand.

I wonder how the engine would run by reducing the stroke?

Would it adversely affect the torque/power?
