A good tip here is to look at the AE86 forums as putting in cams is very popular as opposed to hardly anyone seeming to do it with MK1s.

Club 4AGE is probably a good bet to check out too.

Isn't that above the maximum limit on the lift with standard shims?

I've subscribed myself to the AE86 forum now, just waiting for activation.

I have emailed both Cat Cams and TED Components for prices - they do a good selection of cams it seems.

The 101s are 262s with 8.9mm lift so all good for stock shims.

Cheers mate I've already emailed TED Components.

With a 262 degree I don't have to get another ECU or anything to run it I believe :)

8.9mm is higher lift than the HKS (8.1/8.3). Just might be worth checking the stock springs can take it. I guess we are only talking half a millimetre.

8.9mm - 8.3mm is 0.6mm. Yes, 1mm over 0.5mm.

Sorry ignore that I'm being a dickhead - I spent ages measuring a tank today and been dealing with centimetres lol

There are different kinds of tank Peter and this is not the one you are thinking of.

I had an email back from Cat Cams with prices for the following:-

Part No 7105136 – 252/238° degree with 8.5/8.0mm lift = £351 + VAT

Part NO 7105137 – 260/252° degree with 9.0/8.5mm lift = £351 + VAT

Have sourced a different brand for £75 in this country

Going to have to look into the shim situation as well although i may be buying a ported and polished head this week so will have some spare shims :)

No Peter its someone from the mk1 club but I cannot find the name of the motorsport company who apparently did the head work on google or anywhere so not going near that.
