Success!! No springs flying into orbit.

Decided to put a scissor jack in and try and get it off with a bit of hammering also, might have freed it a bit, then I realised I had put the 19mm nut back in.
So I took it out and hammered it(with the jack off) a bit and success, the top mount popped off a foot or so and the spring didn't do much.
Didn't think it would though since I could still compress it slightly while it was still on, I had rapped a bunjee cord round them too so that might have helped. :D

And yeah about the pattern, I noticed the top mount has like a swerve in it, what direction is it meant to face? I assume forward?? I've put it all back together and it looks about right but the dip in the top mount is facing slighty off from forward, a bit to the left(assuming looking straight ahead in the car)

Is this normal? I should have checked but I did take a reference picture yesterday and the spring seems to be in the same position and I've pushed it right in at the bottom.

Is this ok or must it be facing exactly in a certain direction?? Got the nut back in and tightened so need to know before I put it back on.

EDIT: Read some guides and I believe I've got it right, never noticed the OUT bit on the top mount, so got it facing out obviously, hopefully it is correct, reassembly begins. :D

Cheers. :D

God damn getting the strut and hub to line up was a pain in the ass, best way I found was like said, raise the car and rest the strut onto something and lower the car back down, used some bricks. Using the jack was vexxing.

We're reffering to the top mounts, they have an angular part.

All done now. :D No clonking from that side anymore, smooth. :D

Just need to sort out this dodgy droplink bolt knocking all the time now.

I'll do a write up sometime to help others in the future.

Thanks alot for all your help guys, invaluable!
