I have the koni catalogue in front of me and it lists both.

Both have the same front damper listed , part number 8641 1071SPORT

mk1a rear part number - 8641 1072SPORT
mk1b rear part number - 8641 1142SPORT

Just one last thing. Anyone ever tried BC-racing springs (see www.bc-racing.co.uk). They look better then Koni's in every way and only cost a little more. Pillow ball top mounts not rubber, Height adjustable at the lower mount so you don't mess damper travel up, spring adjustable, camber adjustment at top plate, 30 way adjustable damping ... they speak for themselves.

I've not heard of them but they do look very impressive!

That's what I thought for the price. I saw an advert for them taking up the whole cover of the back of a magazine and thought i'd give the site a shot and low and behold :D

I just checked out their site and I must say that it is much better done than others with probably similar quality struts. However, they could definitely offer a little more information.
That being said though, it looks like they offer a number of decent features on their units, which are possibly lacking on other similar priced struts, such as spring mount bearings and ride height adjustibility while maintaining full damping travel.
A downside is that they offer the same harsh spring rates as everybody else. 5 kgs, up front, and 8 in the rear will chatter your teeth severely unless you're on some pretty smooth roads. The Japanese seem to have started everyone off on these rates and nobody seems to have the good sense to change them. At least offer some variations, with matching valving. Seems so simple, but almost no one does. They would sell a lot of these for hard road use if they did.
It would also be nice if these could be incorporated with stock upper strut mounts. Pillowballs may look cool, but they will give a harsher ride, and wear and rattle over time, requiring considerable maintenance.
They also did not mention anything about end link mounts for front or rear sway bars. Those are slightly important! :)

Also just found k-sport coilovers at http://www.ksport.co.uk/products.asp?f=coilovers and D2 racing coilovers at http://www.d2racing.com/content/products/RS_coilovers. Both products can be found on http://www.raceinspired.com/showcategor ... cturerID=0 Now I have to much choice. BC-racing is in UK though so cheaper shipping... still... Interestingly D2 racing do drift spec coilovers for all MR2 varients, now that is rare MR2 drifting. I know some people do but there are easier cars to do it in.

The Ksport and D2 coilovers have been reported to be pretty much the same unit, but with different cosmetics, and supposedly assembled, or maybe just offered through different distributors. Their websites used to offer a lot more information regarding the individual applications (I think their ebay distributors may still mention this). They supposedly used to let you order different spring set ups and valving, but I don't see that mentioned on their sites anymore. They're probably a little more expensive because they use aluminum for their mounts, etc., which can be a good or bad thing. Some people have claimed that they can bend or distort too easily (I think that came from drifters).
If BC Racing could guarantee that they will come with decent end link mounts, and offer a softer spring, then I would lean towards them if I was so inclined to go to coilovers. It's nice to see someone else offering some for the MKI.

The D2s are available cheaper on eBay (new). ;)
However, I'd say that for the price I've seen them advertised for, I'm a bit wary of their build quality. Plus the solid top mount would put me off too. I've got TRD top mounts in mine now (still rubber based) and with the TRD mounts & Koni dampers, that's about as firm as I'd like a road-going car... Though admittedly the springs are probably not as good as Eibach. (I'm still yet to find the Lesjofors spring rates)

Your TRD top mounts should not be rubber based. I took a good look at mine, which are now off, but were mounted temporarily, and they definitely are made of metal where, on the oem mounts, the material is hard rubber.
I would agree though that they are as hard as I would ever prefer, and that is one of the main reasons why I have never switched to coilovers like those mentioned here. Mine were mounted with Eibachs and Koni yellows. I currently have new oem top mounts on and they were a significant improvement over the old 200k units, and without the added harshness of the TRD's.
