Electric window!

Post by RobCrezz »

My drivers side electric window started clunking today and has now stopped going the full way up without me yanking it. It also clunks alot on the way down and keeps looking like its going to get stuck before clunking some more and going down!

What do you think could have happened?

Is a new electric windows mechanisim expensive?

I guess ill have to get a garage to have a look at it, I dont fancy taking the door apart

Do you reckon it will be expensive if I take it to MR T? Not sure where else to take it to in colchester.

Hi Rob,

Honestly, it's a really easy 10 minute job to do and you only need a philips scredriver and a 10mm long socket. There are only 2 or 3 (while since I last swapped mine) bolts holding the window at the bottom and only 4 screws to remove to get the door card off, once you see inside you'll notice the problem straight off.

Going to Mr T will of course be expensive and if the tracks are bent damaged etc, ones from scrapped cars are cheap whereas they'll want to fit new ones.

It has more than likely just come off the runner, and will just need slotting back.

Give it a go

This happened to mine about 2 years ago.. Turned out it had ripped a couple of the mounts off the electric motor so was twisiting in the door ..

Swapped it out for a mates as he was breaking his and it lasted less than 6 months... Went to toyota and i remember it being about £45 for the whole frame work.. doddle to swap over too :)

Damn, wish I had the time, but the window fell down and I couldnt leave it like that, as its been p1$$ing it down this week, had to take it to a garage. Oh well sorted now, but done me for £150, and that wasnt toyota.
