Just having a proper garage/Driveway makes me jealous already. Working on the street sucks :(.

Very nice engine, I hope I have the resources/space/knowledge to do mine one day.

great pics but... I would have loved some text to go along with it documenting the work done in detail

I've just got myself an engine off ebay so that I can pull it apart, learn where everything goes and slowly refurb it as a spare over the next months, but not being very mechanical (but willing to learn) I really am not sure what I need to do exactly once apart. i.e. What should be replaced? what should be reworked etc etc

if you get any time to add such text it would be very much appreciated, or if there is already something like this that I have not yet found a link would be great
Unless I'm very much mistaken...

Very nice indeed. (See, we can be positive about 4ages!)

Last thing i'd do to finish it off is see if you can get a new (possible?) or very clean expansion bottle.

It's always the thing that gets me when we do a swap, detail all the engine, the engine bay, get all the pipes clean and shiny, everything perfect, and then you spot the slightly off-white expansion bottle :pale:

The engine specs are:

-Overbored to 1626cc
-252 duration cams
-AEM Vernier pulleys
-Fully Gas flowed head
-Compression ratio of around 10.7 (Haven't worked it out fully yet)
-7 rib block
-Small crank and Rods
-ARP Rod Bolts, Head studs and Flywheel bolts

Not sure about power figures so I won't even estimate. Know that with it being standard bore and the compression of 10.4 : 1 it was quick. Felt as quick through the gears as my dad's 306 gti-6. Should be a little better now.

As reply to the question about what should be replaced and that. I've re honed the block and put new rings in, would have gone standard size, but the block did need to be brought out 1mm. If it was me I'd be changing, as I have done, full gasket set i.e stem seals, head gasket, ...., new oil pump, new big end and main bearing shells with the crank being re-polished. You can get away with the original oil pump but you'll have to check the tollerences which are on the CD that seems to be going around. Mine is probably a bit excessive but working for a racing engine builder my standards are fairly high.

Yea should have changed the water bottle, ran out of money! Spent it all on that engine!!

Anyone want one built?

If you paint the bottle you won't be able to read its level, the bottle is semi translucent for that reason.

Just leave it soaking in a bucket of cheap cola, that will shift the staining.

As paul says soak it in cheap cola, vineger etc, also fill it with a handful of gravel and give it a good shake
