RAC man plugged my hole.

Post by Grendel »

Right now that’s got your attention.
On Saturday I had the misfortune to get a 2 inch screw in the tread of my Eagle F1's so had to call out RAC to change the tyre since haven’t got the strength in my shoulder to change it since the bike accident. But rather than changing it for the Original spare (Which is 2 years older than the car?) he plugged the puncher? Now I guess this won’t pass an MOT but as luck would have it the MOT was a few days before the puncher but I’m wandering how long it will last or would it be safer to buy new front tyres ASAP bearing in mind the tyres on it still have good tread left on them.

depends onwhat he plugged the hole with but i would treat it like the roadside tyre repair cans and get it done last thing you want is that popping out at 60.

change the tyre :thumleft:

Did he issue a certificate to prove the puncture was repaired to British Standards (or summat like that)? Most tyre garages that repair punctures will guarantee the repair.

Enjoy your plugging.

He used some sort of rubber bung type thing and said I could get it professional (he used the term loosely) repaired at QuickFit. But he also mention that he had the same repair done to his motorbike and it was still going strong 3 years later when he sold it and that he used to repair lorry punchers the same way with no problems. :-k

Just pop it down to Quickfit and have them check it - shouldn't cost much more that £15 or £20 for them to redo it.

A puncture repair to british standards shouldn't be cause for an MOT failure.

^^^ I have never heard of this kind of violence before, surely punching a lorry would be really painful

PS If you want to know the proper spelling check the other posts :thumleft:

Your comment is neither constructive nor needed.

If you must know I’m dyslexic and have to spell check every post with Microsoft Word to stop getting jumped up idiots making comments and it didn’t pick it up. So your moronic comments don’t help.

If that is the case I would get a new spell checker as the one you are using is obviously not fit for purpose, it missed wondering as well as puncture which are two fairly common words, you did use proper words in their place so perhaps a grammar check might be in order. Which means my post was helpful as it has highlighted the deficiencies in your spell checker.

As to whether my comments are moronic that is a different thing all together, are you saying that poor spelling is acceptable? (as I did not know of your condition I was trying to help), or are you saying that poor spelling is always to be blamed on dyslexia? Maybe you should put a notice in your signature to let people know you are dyslexic then we will not think you just can't spell :thumleft:

Ok fair point perhaps Microsoft Word is to blame for not spotting the Grammar mistake.
As for putting something in my signature about being dyslexic I’d be glad to as long as you are happy to put "Argumentative idiot" in yours
Here is a little badge for you as well.

I wasn’t aware you have to put EVERYTHING past the bloody Grammar police when you post on here these days. No wonder I don’t post on here that often. I thought it was a car club forum but now I know it's a bloody English lesson.

Just to go back on topic, if a puncture is properly repaired then it is perfectly safe and legal.

I would put Argumentative Idiot in my signature, however there are two problems with that.

1. You started the argument.
2. I am not an Idiot.

Thanks for the badge, glad to know I am making a difference :thumleft:

Well maybe I should have put puncher so that those with dyslexia could understand, I did however miss an n out which was accidental as I have spelled puncture correctly in previous posts, I will correct it straight away, and I won't be calling you an idiot for correcting me :thumleft:

I'm sorry I forgot you are perfect

Perhaps you would like to suggest to the IT bods to have a spelling and grammar check on IMOC threads so no one else offends you and your sensitivity to bad grammar.

Obviously I am not perfect, as I misspelled puncture :(

I don't think I need a spelling and grammar check, however maybe you should suggest it as it obviously rankles when you are corrected :thumleft:

for your information there is a plug-in for Firefox that checks spelling, I use it and it checks your spelling as you type posts on forums, quite handy.
