rolling road

Post by howie »

hi guys, have only had my new mk1 mr2 for about 6 weeks now and i must say i am still like a kid on christmas day every time i get behind the wheel. but i was wondering if anyone could tell me the best place to go to find out just wot bhp she really is pumping out ? it has got the following extras HKS manifold, powerflow stainless steel exhaust system, HKS air filter, superchips icon engine management system, red vaccume pipes, i live in liverpool so anywhere in the north west would be great . (thanks howie) :thumleft:

there must be hundreds of places with a RR in your area, contact your local mk1 club rep he/she may be able to help.
as for power. you should have started with 124(ish) bhp which will have dropped a bit over the years. probably about 10 hp. working on this basis 3-4 hp for the inlet ,exhaust and filter. maybe as much as 10-15hp for the unichippy thing so probably around 130 (ish). you should however see a marked improvement in torque. this will make the difference. it will feel more powerfull and pull better.
only my 4 p worth.

You would be suprised!

It sounds like a "worthless" mod, but on a AW11, can be benifical. The cars are an average of 20years old (ish) rubber technology in the 80's is nothing compared to today, the vacuum pipes on your Adub may be perished, hard and leaking (even small amounts not noticable on everyday drives), replacing them for new fangelled spangly ones wont give an improvement over std power, but will help return any lost shetland ponies, or just let it run smoother.

But then just replacing the hoses with more expensive MR T parts would do the same.
