[Mk2] [Turbo] moddified rear lights

Post by Martin F »

i have a set of rev1 rear lights and i am thinking of using them as a frame and putting the twin rear lights from a skyline r33 gtr into them,

im not even sure i will have enough depth to play about with but will keep this post updated on how i get on,

anyone ever done this before ?

i will be using fibreglass once everything is in place to mould the frame together and spray everything but the lights and indicator the same colour as the car.

hope i'm not going to be wasting my time and money :-k

any opinions on weather this will work :eye:

The light area on the rev1/2 lights is 110 mm tall. If you're looking at gutting the casing then you might have issues. There are 2 bars along the back that are used to locate them on the car body.

Obviously there will be ways around it, but firstly I would measure up the skyline lights before you make a single cut. Then its just a case of being brave and seeing it out.

the diameter of the skyline lights is 137mm, i will work my way around this , weather just a bit cold just now :(

even if it doesn't work i will have no regrets really as its been niggling me for years...

What about the R32 rear lights, they're a bit smaller aren't they?

If you click my car link on the left, theres a small pic of something that may help... :thumleft:
You wont be able to look at a large pic as my ISP has moved all the files I uploaded  , but you get the idea.....!

They are from Stafford Vehicle Components, and they are LED units 8) , so they are not very deep.....and they're about 95mm diameter, IIRC....? :D
