[Mk2] [Turbo] Foglight swich installation help needed to pass mot.

Post by madr2turbo »

I have rev5 or 6 rear lights fitted to my rev1 turbo, they were on the car when i bought it and it was moted so am guessing the fog light worked at the time.

Problem is the foglight swich is missing, so i have bought an aftermarket swich.

The thing is, which 2 of the 4 wires need to be conected to iluminate the foglight, I will list the wire colours .

1. Green/ silver band
2. Green/ yellow stripe
3. White/ black stripe/ with twin silver bands
4. White/black stripe/ silver band

One of the green wires goes live when i turn the headlights on if thats any help .

Thanks in advance.

Stand corrected - they are a requirement for the MOT.

yep, this is why the tubbys(or most imports) have holes in the bumpers or brackets with a fog light, although mine is wired in with my rev 3 lights
as the imported cars don't have a rear fog light when they come to this country, i think they need it for SVA too.

edit, front fogs are not part of an mot(i think) but rears are deffo.

Correct :thumleft: Rear fog lights must have a light on the dash (or the switch) indicating they are on.

Don't see the point in doing a bodge that has to be repeated annually. Just wire the fogs into the inner lamps in the clusters.
