Yes, strictly speaking you should use the Toyota Forlife which is red in colour.
I find it expensive so I use the red Halfords coolant. I've been using this for a while, with no problems and it is about half the price. Bungle, check out the MR2 Mk1 Club section on IMOC, most Mk1'ers post in there
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

I went to mr T to buy some. They could only sell it to me in 1l bottles.
I needed 12l. Guy told me to GTFO and buy some normal coolant (lol)

Any ethylene glycol based coolant mixed with water will be fine.
