Anyone know the history of P855FVR (Azure blue MR2 T-bar)

Post by freakyeke »

Just bought an MR2 from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0259955669

At the other end of the country to me but I've always wanted a Caribbean (edit: Azure) blue T-bar :thumleft:

Does anyone know anything about the car/seen it about?

Once I have sold my Honda City, the MR2 will be getting booked into Woodsport for an LPG conversion.

Thanks in advance.

Stunning car!

I don't know anything about the car's history, but Slough is only down the road from where I work.

Let me know if you need any assistance or advice regarding the pick up.

It's not that cheap. MR2 prices have nose dived to the extent where you can buy a mint Rev3 NA for sub £1k. I should know, I just bought one.

Last night I sold a lovely 1990 Coupe, completely standard apart from a CD player, in great condition with 103k miles on the clock with almost FSH, perfect bodywork, long MoT.... for £700.

Yes but you have bought a rev3 red auto jdm tintop... This is a rev4 UK T-bar with leather in blue... Complete different cars IMO and a VERY good price if its as good as it looks in the pic (looks like Azure blue to me rather than caribbean blue)

Fair point Rash, the spec of my car differs to this one, but:

1. The differences between Rev3 and 4 cars are minor - Rev 4 has an airbag (and therefore an ugly steering wheel) and clear front indicators.
2. UK car comes with lower spec (no A/C, no folding mirrors) and higher mileage.
3. I don't think that 15 year old leaky and creaky T-Bar roofs are that desirable.
4. Colour is a matter of taste. Red suits MR2s very well whilst blue is not an ideal colour for a sports car. This is purely a matter of taste, of course.
5. The transmission is a matter of choice and I wanted an auto. I don't think the choice of gearbox has massive implications on values.

Before buying my car I had the opportunity to look at a number of Rev3 cars, all offered for sub £1k. I bought my car for less than half of what freakyeke is paying for his. I'm sure his car is lovely and it's still great value for money, but considering current market values it's not cheap.

Yeah very good price despite mileage being a little high but N/A engines tend to last well so not really an issue.

I still think my rev3 turbo was a good bargain. Bought at the end of last summer for just £2650 (way below average). Black in very good condition, slightly modded with 75k miles.

I haven't seen a Rev 4 advertised anywhere for this kind of money (except RichardK's green MR2 a couple of months back).

I agree with what you're saying about the steering wheel being ugly but disagree about the T-bar; which for me, just makes a superb car even better.

Red does suit MR2's but how beautiful does it look in bright met blue? Stunning, to me. Horses for courses :thumleft:

It does look a slightly different shade of blue to the Caribbean blue MR2's I've been looking at so would agree with Rash, that it's more than likely to be Azure blue :D

At the end of the day, I think I have got a bargain and that is all that matters. Except that it's not Caribbean blue, so I'll pretend that it is

Dude, I hope your car is as good as it looks in the photos. Don't get me wrong, it's a great looking car, in a desirable spec and colour (although it's not to my taste) and I'm sure you'll love it.

A friend of mine, who refuses to accept that the internet is here to stay and therefore will not join IMOC, recenty bought a completely standard UK NA T-Bar Rev4 in black with perfect black leather, mint, 70k with FTSH for a hundred quid more than you're paying for yours. He loves his and thought he got a bargain until he saw my pristine JDM tintop Rev3, fully loaded with 62k miles on the clock, which I acquired for £800.

At the end of the day £2k (which is absolute max what you need to pay for a nice Rev3/4 NA) is peanuts considering how great MR2s are.

If I wasn't so tight, I'll have bought this long ago: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=106786

Stunning car!

PS: Just noticed your car is fitted with a sports exhaust and air filter. Probably worth about £250 on their own (2nd hand). Nice!
