Kelsport Exhaust System

Hi,

I have been looking for a twin exhaust like this for yonks!

I have emailed Kelsport, and they tell me its made from thicker mild steel, painted high temp silver. They'd give me a years warranty on it too. I have asked them about how loud it is, as i've been wanting a loud one for ages. Apparently it drones a little over tick over then is louder on higher revs.

Has anyone seen this exhaust in action? Any opinions or disadvantages/advantages??

If I was buying a £300 exhaust, I'd want a bit more than a 1 years warranty

thats shocking! there can only be £50's worth of stuff there it doesnt even look like proper straight through silencers! i made my own system for my track car, including a stainless manifold, a second hand mongoose back box and making the rest if the system it has cost me less than a new manifold back system! exhausts are so over priced for what they are imho. if you wanted to make a twin system from the standard manifold back i bet you could do it for £150 or less. the problem with a twin system is your not matching the power pulses up so get a good top end but you will loose some mid range and bottom end power, especialy is the exhaust diameter is too large.

If you buy an exhaust always get a stainless system with a lifetime guarrantee.

Sorry to jump on the bandwagon but I have to agree with the others, £300 for a mild steel system is a complete rip-off. Compare it with http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-MR2-SW20-T ... 286.c0.m14 this is a stainless steel system, no use to you but gives you an idea. If your after a twin exit system go to Powerflow franchise & get them to make one for you. They will make to to your specification with the ends & sizes you want & to the noise level you want. When I had mine done for my Fiat Coupe Turbo I went from a single to a dual dual system i.e. twin pipes on twin exit that only cost me £300 granted it was 3 years ago so maybe more expensive now.

That exhaust is crap.

An N/a needs a specific tuned length and diameter to optimize efficiency, if freer flow of gas = better performance why not run without an exhaust completly? because its crap.

N/a's require a tuned length and diameter to maximize the scavenging effect and find the optimum back pressure for this in order to increase performance.

The only way to do this is run a dyno all day changing lengths and restrictions. They didnt do this, stoner racing (I wont start to coment on how cowboy they are) tested on track, the system hasnt even been Dyno'd for ffs.

That exahaust is a twin pipe, for argument sake lets say about 2 1/4", equivent to something stupid like 3.75" (in area). CAn you imagine runing an N/a on a 3.75" straight through exhaust? Fart in a tin can springs to mind.



Also the exhausts are different lengths to the back box if you look carefully, it hasnt been tested just built to restrictions ergo its a pile of tosh

Thats one of the worse mk1 exhausts ive seen. It will rot away after a year. Your best getting a stainless steal system with a life time warrenty.

Whats with the tail pipes also?

I'm not a fan of the twin exit exhuast, some are ok but this one just looks rubbish. Get yourself a janspeed, if they still make them that is.

£450 is a lot for a powerflow exhaust.. have you tried just one branch as the prices do vary significantly.

Goto http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk Will be better quality and cheaper than powerflow. Its in Macclesfield though.

Personally i'm not a fan of the wheelbarrow look which i think is totally unecessary on such a small 4 pot engine, but each to their own.

Honestly they made up my hardpipes for my old SC, lovely work too as well as an SC outlet pipe:





They also did a complete twin pipe system for my old bmw 325i, sounded just beautiful, I got exactly what I asked for. Highly recommended, I really wouldn't think about going anywhere else, although they are a lot nearer to me.

Alex, why didnt you let me know you were looking for a decent zorst , there is a company just off the north circular called Torque exhausts & they will make you up a system for the car, twin exit if thats what you want, they are really good guys & know their stuff, Ask Pete kyte, he had a system made for his S.C conversion there & he has no problems with it at all, & they are at a reasonable price, probably a lot cheaper than what youve been looking at.
