Is there anyway of completely removing the need for a key with these? Only obstical i can see is steering lock? Surely this can be removed. The a switch to turn the ignition on then start with the button?

I've already planned that out.
FIA power cut off switch as the main ignition "key", a flight switch for turning on the ignition, and a start button.
Have enquired about MOTs and its all dandy. The only issue they could see was with insurance and removing the steering lock.

Why would you need two switches? Do you not just need one to turn the ignition on? Any plans on how to remove the steering lock?

the kill switch is for the main power line. Its removeable. Otherwise you're essentially leaving your keys in the car every time you leave it. Not smart! Unfortunately tho, these aren't the most unique keys around. I don't know if you can get a specific pattern one, or something to make it a bit more secure.
Also you will need to hard wire anything that needs constant power. I.E. Alarm, Stereo, Interior light, Central locking - that was about all I could think of.
I've not been able to investigate removing the steering lock yet.

Very interesting. I had only just started looking inot it, so had not got as far as you have. Love the idea of a starter button, but seem pointless with keys to. Not really getting you any benefit other than the coolness of pressing a starter button.

That in itself is much coolness, and probaly cool enough for most. My main reason for doing it is that its going to be pretty much dedicated to track. Plus I have a lot of time on my hands so really look into things when I get the idea.
To do it properly would be quite a lot of work. Personally I'd be installing a new fuse/relay board, new power lines etc. So quite a lot of wiring to be done, especially if I'm keeping the alarm.

Be interested to see how it comes out when you get it. I've had trouble getting 1 from a breaker, so have tried to get another one sorted. Fingers crossed.
Any chance you could email me a copy of the instructions that come with your kit? Would like to see whats in there.

Ant

Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Wiring for s2000 start button
Fitted. Looks great. Gauges into but not yet wired as rain stopped play. Was a bit of a challenge finding the starter wire as there appear to be several with similar characteristics to it on the multi meter. But all done now, very please.

is it abit extreme that i was contemplating playing about with a Rfid implant and reader that would replace my immobiliser.
Basically the only way someone could start my car was if they cut off my hand.
