above is my car i bought from ebay a month ago-i now wanna run more power and not knowing much about turbod cars thought ad enquire as to the best ways to go ie,cams bigger turbo etc???and what brands are best?

i also wonder how much power the car would need to produce before i uprate the pistons and con rods?and how much would i be looking at for them to be uprated along with possible cam fitment

hope some one can help guide me to a good amount of power and what i would need to pay for certain amounts of power,thanks.chris.

fit a 21st century engine management system (reprogrammable ECU), and bin the antique air flow meter.

that alone will help optimise your current mods, and improve torque and fuel economy.

you ought to be able to max out the injectors (430cc) and see well over 300hp with the ct20b.

with a good tune, and intercooling the stock pistons and rods are good for big power. however it all depends on the wear and tear within the engine. seeing that the car has already been running 14.5 psi with a FCD i assume... then it is almost taken for granted that over fuelling will have caused bore wash (petrol diluting the oil) and as a result i expect the big end and mains bearings to be showing some wear...

Why would you want to max out the injectors ? And run the car lean and maybe cause damage to the engine surely it makes more sence to fit bigger injectors for safety

the previous owner of this car insisted the power was around 245 bhp if i remember rightly, could pm him to see what he says, i will get a link for you...

what boost is the car running for starters, it can be very expensive to mod these cars but some are running 500-700+ bhp so the potential is huge, the rods can be good for 500bhp+ and pistons 400bhp with the right cooling/ecu but they will fail sooner or later(well the rings are suppose-ably the weak spot) :-k

i will leave it at that just now because its a subject lots of people will be happy to get involved in

p.s. welcome to the site and good choice in car :eye:

for 350 fwbhp you would be looking at a bigger turbo/fuel pump/injectors/clutch/maybe fuel rail(unless rev3)/possibly camshafts(unless rev3)/exhaust/downpipe/airfilter/intercooler/colder spark plugs and a standalone ecu to make everything work properly...

what do you already have in place ?

charge cooler / exhaust / downpipe / airfilter and ???

your probably not too far away mate, maybe £3000 if you diy :-k

fwbhp, i am basically going down the same lines as yourself just now, you could go for a hybrid but i am going for a gt2871r or gt30 Garrett kit from xxxx or k o racing / 850cc injectors from japan (£220 delivered) walbro fuel pump / rps clutch / chargecooler, apexi power fc already in place and money in bank, just waiting for the space to be able to use college facilities to fit it all

looking for around 380 bhp but i have a spare engine for forgies and rev3 parts :-k

so in the future i will have everything in place for a bit more

tbh mate, if your car is only pushing around 245 bhp then with a few upgrades you may be able to get near 300 bhp and you will be surprised how much quicker the car is (a boost increase gives extra bhp right through the rev range) :oldtongue:

may satisfy and save you loads :eye:

Was my old car and was running at 242 at the fly and was not running a CT20 it was a standard CT26. I told the guy you got it off this when he bought it and i told him again when he tried selling it as 300BHP and a CT20. He only had it a week before trying to sell it. Look on the turbo mate it will say CT26. If it does(and it will) Ask for some money back cos he has mislead you.
