[Mk2] [Turbo] Where to go from here.....

Post by David21 »

Hi, Just bought myself an Apexi AVCR for my Rev3 Tubby. The current mods i have on my car are and Apexi Airfilter and Apexi GT exhaust.

I'm looking at fitting my EBC at the weekend. Is there anything else i should do before fitting the boost controller? I just don't want to fit it an cause damage to my engine/turbo.

I've heard a good mod would be to replace the downpipe but i've heard this is a pain to remove and i have my MOT in the next few months and i'm pretty sure with my car being registered sept '95 its just outside the bracket of not needing to be emissions tested!

If anyone could give me a bit of advice that would be great. :thumleft:

I think if your wanting to up the boost you will need an uprated intercooler/chargecooler,

Decat's a good idea aswell!

Doesn't have to uprate the intercooler, but further gains can be had by doing so. Ignition components and service items should be iin tip-top condition. Don't want plugs failing on high boost.

Decat is a great mod. I would think that you'd be fine with an MOT. If not, change it back. Its really not that bad of a job. Can be, but if prepared for correctly, its nothing major.

Thanks for the replys. It maybe worth me taking a trip down to Rogue, might get them to fit the boost controller too!

Although i could probably do the serviceable parts. What parts would need to be checked? Spark plugs, rotor arm and leads?

If they've not been replaced recently its probaly best practice to renew them. Rotor arm, cap, leads, plugs. Depends on what you want to spend, and how anal you want to be about the whole thing.
