[Mk2] [Turbo] front tyres rubbing on the rear wheel arch during turning

my tyres fitted on the front are 215,45,17's and during turning rub on the black plastic on the wheel arch, the car is lowered with springs and on yellow billies,

what size is needed to clear the plastic trim?

on the rears are 245,40,17's what effect on handerling would be if the fronts where 215,35,17 or 215,40,17s? would I notice anything?

My fronts were 215/40/18

Just don't turn as much, job done

depends on width and offset of the wheel. I have 215x40x17 on an 8j rim ET35. I haven't heard it rub on lock but hit a big enough bump I can hear it touch the arch liner - std springs on Yellow billies

my 18inch alloys do this at the front also, it dosent seem to have any effect of turning? but the screw that holds the arch lining on rubs the wheel which cannot be great i was thinking of perhaps re fitting the arch lining a bit further back in the arch if its possible?

My son had the same problem.....his solution remove the linings!!! job done .

My erm... 16's on my 106 had an issue, only the liners fell out themselves! Saved me a job though!

Hahaha Think we know what the poster means and Is referring too:- some funny replies though Profile Is everything especially If the car Is lower. The 45 profile sounds like the problem? Oh what about your rims *off set* and just how *wide* are they In Inches? As Allan has mentioned. Take a look on the reverse side of the rim.It might not be the tyres?mm.Possible with a very soft suspension under heavy cornering?Yes 35 profile works well.

Hi harry I got the problem fixed

I put some 40 profile tyres on the car and it solved the issue, the tyres on 7.5" and i cant remember the offset i think 35,

but then when I got some trade plates and drove my car to the testing station...i need to get my rear arches rolled lol...
