Post by LuizeGT »

no power to the compressor when on. swapped the relay but still no joy.

Are you sure there's still gas in it? The compressor won't fire up if it's below pressure, so I presume that means the ECU won't power up the magnetic clutch.

It's v. easy to lose the gas if you get a stone hitting the condensor rad. I hope it's not that and just a simple elec fault, tho.

Edit-there's a sight glass in the frunk behind the plastic cowl on the RH side. Details are in the BGB what to look for IIRC.

cant see any rad damage, il have a look for the glass thingy.
i think its an eleccy faut though as theres no power at all going to the compressor, my meter just showed 0.00 which lead me to think of the relay.

i love air con

Ditto-especially at the moment.

There won't be any power to the compressor if there's a fault elsewhere-the ECU won't let it run to prevent damage. Does sound like it's low on gas I'm afraid, although apparently it's not uncommon to lose 10-15% per year in a 'healthy' system.

ECU, just thinking .... ive had a link G3 fitted about the same time it stopped working :-s i asked at the time and was told the ecu wouldnt affect it, just read its gotta be configured. needs a remap so il check then :thumleft:

Hmmm...don't know about that.

A/c may be independent of the ECU. I just used the term ECU as I thought that's what controls it-it could be something as simple as a pressure switch in the system that acts as a failsafe that's not allowing it to run.

Probably worth a call to whoever fitted the Link to confirm. Has it worked at all with the Link?

no not worked since. i contacted the company saying that my aircon doesnt work now and would the ecu change affect it but they said no, nothing to do with it. maybe coincidence then.

il check the glass thing at lunchtime, if needs be il get our aircon guy back to pressure test it.

im assuming theres a fuse somewhere for it but id have thought that that would not let the dash control light come on if the fuse was blown.

im melting! :pale:

I had my re-gased a year ago, freezing cold but at back end of summer, didnt use it unitl april/may this year, worked mildly for a week and now compressor doesnt whiz up or revs, needs re-gasing!!

unfortunately once re-gassed you have to use them ever week or so to keep momentum, you can still use hot air a/c in winter which ill be doing from now on when re-gased!

Ive melted!!!
