price, price, price, price. I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours...
well, mine was £600, 72000 on the clock, solid underneath but needed rear arches doing and full respray, qhich I did myself, all for about £400 including buying the spray equipment.

That is a great!....you should be very proud.
My Sherwood toning was bought for £1500 when I got it a few years back.
1 owner from new and 67k on the clock.
After I had a prang with a white van driver (his fault) it got the nearside resprayed and I re-stickered it.
I ended up selling it for £1750...but I did have an uprated poly bush kit fitted to it by peter at SBits.
My ealier Mica Blue was bought for £1800...but was no where near as good as my Sherwood Toning...but it was still mint underneath just like the Sherwood.....and it even had 103k on the clock.....and this was about 5 years ago.
The prices for these little cars fluctuates wildly.
People are realising the classic status and putting prices up.
Sometimes there are bargains out their.
You just have to stick with your budget and get what you can for your money.
Nowt wrong with saying what you paid for a car is there?
I just paid £1100 for my rev 2 UK.
No history apart from recent owners work....but it had the basics there that I knew needed to be good....and it is.
I'm well chuffed.

I'm guessing you paid too much for it?
Still don't get why people are coy about prices.
I would guess its the other way round and the coyness is in case the owner decides to sell it at some point?

Maybe, but saying what you paid for it won't necessarily affect the resale value.
I was quite clear that I bought my mk1a NA for £350 and sold it for £1600.

Exactly Lauren - and was well worth it (considered it myself but it had gone!!). Personally I think all this 'minter' business is nonsense, low mileage doesn't mean mint condition - condition comes first when your buying a 20yr+ car.
I don't believe that there are many truly excellent condition mr2 mk1's that get given away by what is likely to have been, an enthuiastic owner. Would suggest individuals get realistic with their evaluation of condition.
For the record my first unmint mk1 consumed £5k and was sold for £1350, but I enjoyed running C967YNX
