Would guess that they just aren't particulary rare these days, after a decade of personal imports have flooded in, this and a drop in relative value simply due to age. As enthusiasts we may rave on about the mk1 SC, but thats a relatively small pool of potential buyers at any given time, and as you say other notably sports models have now depreciated to 'buyable' levels for their first time. :)

ofcourse the baseline price of a mk1 NA will also affect the price.
We sold a 90 - 95% NA for £1700 - not a hint of rust. If an NA in 90 -95% condition, i think its fair to be at least £1000 plus for an SC, and obviously more if it's lower mileage etc (which they tend to be).

Alex has already put our SC's down, so I won't break your thread, but it's also worth remembering that as time goes on, it becomes harder to find good examples as they rust away.

You can buy a (scruffy?) Lotus Elise for a little over £6k now...

Tidy ones cost about £8k.

hmm, maybe... just wish that was the case with teh AE86... they seem to be going up in value if anything.

This AE92 looks cheap so far on ebay.

Just realised it's a FWD car. I don't know much about Corollas.

only a year late (as usual) but in case you are still interested:

Paid £2500 for my Dark Blue Pearl *auto* SC in 2001. It was g-limited with the toys (retracts/mirrored t-bars etc), and I was the first owner in the country. Condition really was around 90%, not a speck of rust on it or under it, the only blemish to it was a very slightly faded rear bumper (par for the course with Mk1s). Loved everything about it EXCEPT it being an auto, I made do with that because it was a very good price in very good condition, I was thinking about converting it to manual when it got killed in action and I just bought a UK NA Manual and converted that to SC instead.

I wouldn't pay more for one today than I paid then (car values aren't supposed to work that way no matter how many people keep throwing the 'classic' banner around). More rust should equal less cash. Having said this, if you find a genuine, rust free, manual sc with low miles and original paint/spec then £3k+ may well be worth it to you. The way I see it, any more than that is half a (very much newer and special though shame it's not japanese quality) vx220 ;)

Ollie @ Skyinsurance wrote:Good thread, I wont be divulging how much I have paid for my (3) scs... thats my business, nobody elses ... I do have an eye for a bargain though

I can tell you what I sold them for though:

1)Tin top sc, good chassis, fair to middling body work, non running engine, LED spolier, wing mirrors, sc rear lights + many performance extras removed & sold seperately. £1400 for the car

 I know what you paid for it cos you left your budgeting paperwork in the car folder O:)

hehe do we get to play 'play your cars right' where we have to guess if each successive owner paid higher or lower..

"higher than ollie paid for the supercharger you say..... "

£2,500 back in 2001. Car was in good condition, but not perfect. At the time this was the cheapest one I could find.

Bit of a change from the SC! I like my Supra, it's a big old bus but can get a decent shift on when required :) Brakes are rubbish though...

EDIT... just noticed the thread resurrection. Possibly not that useful a post then :P

I paid £2100 for my Auto `89 SC, just over a year ago.
Fantastic condition. No rust anywhere.
Only changed the seats, wheels, steering wheel and added a dvd player & screen so far,
Komis going on in the next 2 weeks
:lover: Wouldn`t sell it though,
unless made a stupid offer
