I bought one yesterday on a whim from game station - was £24.99 inc 2 films, pretty good i think and i'm sure they'll have a few left

I still maintain, if you can get one cheap it's worth it. As there are still alot of films that are HD only AND alot that are going cheap as hell.

Play had a whole section for £4.99 each.

Eventually they'll go I would imagine but for now, it's a pretty cheap way of getting into the world of HD.

Does it use a USB plug into the xbox and then play through the Xbox - TV wire?

I assume you'd only get 1080p if you have an HDMI lead as mine wont set to 1080p with the component lead?

Does it have it's own power plug or run off the xbox power?

For £25 I might pick one up and leave packed it away unless I want to watch a film.

It's a self-powered USB device. I bought one partly in case HD-DVD films got cheap, but also partly to get an external DVD drive for my Eee so I can restore the OS when I break it.

They also come with a remote

The £25 deal is a good one. That's an HD-DVD external drive (which works on PCs, Macs, Eees etc) and an Xbox media remote for £15, plus two movies at Play's cheap £4.99 sort of prices.
