[Mk2] [Turbo] Chipped ecu on ebay ?????? hmmmm

Post by GT4kid »

Hello everyone, newbie here, im a GT4 owner  but used to have an N/A sw20, hope you dont mind me being here??? If so i'll get my coat!! Just saw a standard 3sgte ECU on E-bay claiming to be chipped. Now as far as im aware its not possible to chip or even map one. Is this a case of false advertising or am i comlpetely stupid and misinformed??? Also im thinking of a Greddy E-manage to try and improve my afr, anyone got one ? and wat you guys think of em?
Thanks

Techtom (Japan) make a small circuit board that fits inside the 3SGTE ECU allowing the factory code to be changed. (chipped)

You can usually spot these modded ECUs because they need a height spacer under the ECU lid to allow the extra board to fit inside and this makes the ECU look a bit 'fatter'

However, some people manage to squeeze them in without needing the spacer so the ECU looks completely stock from the outside.

I bought one by mistake recently thinking I'd got a stock ECU. When it didn't act as a stock ECU I peeked inside and spotted the Techtom board.

Ask the vendor if the ECU has a Techtom board fitted.

to me the advert is just going by hearsay with no actual facts, it's not really saying anything different to what a standard ecu would do and you won't get 300 bhp on a ct26 turbo anyway...

i wouldn't waste your money mate...

welcome to the site by the way :thumleft:

WHEN I BOUGHT IT THE GUY SAID ITS CHIPPED BY A COMPANY IN FIFE THAT UPRATES ECU'S

Isn't Unichip (or Dastek) in Fife?? So it would be a standard ECU if it didn't come with the piggy-back anyway... :-k
