Clear Side Repeaters - MR2 bulb holder doesn't fit!

Post by Bluebear »

I'm trying to fit my new Clear Side Repeaters I got from Ultimate-Styling, but the MR2 bulb holder does fit into the back of the new repeater!

See attached photo of the problem, the three cut outs are at different angles and one of the slots is smaller. ](*,)

The eBay site says its a "Direct OEM replacement", has anyone had this problem ????
Do you think its my OEM MR2 bulb holder thats the problem or is it just not compatible with the Ultimate-Styling repeater ???

Yes mate, i had this problem!!!

I called them and asked to be sent the right components, and then was sent something completely different! I had a right old go at the bloke on the fone, telling me that their company i xxxx. I sold them to Shane i think on here for the cost of the postage, as the company would pay the postage to send them back.

Do not buy anything from that company. They will d1ck you about!!

I bought the clear indicators from somewhere else, not the crystal ones.

The offsets are incorrect no matter how you try and make them fit.

Hi SuperRedMR2,

Thanks for your info, I thought it was my car!
Good to hear someome else has had the same problem as me.

Not sure what to do now, the sites does offer "7 day exchange/refund if you are not completely satisfied", may give him a ring next week...

They do look great on the car, I may just glue the bulb in (using something easily to remove when the bulbs goes) or "have a go" at filing the three slots to so how make the bulb holder fit better.

As you say there's no way its going to fit without modifying one of the parts.
There not cheap aswell, you expect them to just fit!

Chris

slots are different so that "supposedly" you cannot fit a clear bulb/holder into a clear lense
kind of making the idiot proof
but like paul says file them to fit
modding somtimes needs you to do a bit of "well modding"

Yes, but if you buy something for £20 you'd expect it to work.

I just filled out new slots, made a template from paper first and marked it up with black felt pen.
It did take me a hour or so to do, but then the dam thing wouldn't fit in the wing!
Very poorly made, had to file the base of the repeater (removed outside rubber gasket first) to get it to sit flush to the wing.

Would have taken Paul 7 mins to do, took me 3 hours...

Thanks to everyone for there replies and help, job done ready for Tatton on Saturday!

Also had a problem with the front clear lens "amber bulbs" not been standard, got off road ones from halfords with the two pins in line, instead of been offset, you learn something every day.

well they arent my taste anyway,if you go to the scrappy you can get much nicer repeaters off a mitsu galant that fit straight into a mk1 wing and look a lot better, each to their own though.

I forgot to add, that they dont go onto the wing very well. I didnt want to remove the rubber gasket. I just bought the other ones instead.

again to stop you fitting clear bulbs into clear lenses
just file one pin down

the bulb holder from any later toyota having clear side TSL's as standard should fit without any mods

Well ace parts are still selling them as I went to fit mine this afternoon and got the same problem. They know they don't fit, but keep selling them. Shame on them.
Anyone tried these.?

I bought clear repeaters for my MK1, paid £20 straight from Halfords and they fitted straight off. Also know there's no problems with the returns if necessary.
I am going to live forever, or die trying!
