i'm up for this even though i have no idea what its all about, not sure if i'll be there all 3 days or camping as i'm just down the road and my nissan may be dropped on 22's by then so might be nice to bring it along too,

btw harry the maison talbooth reopend last week as a spa hotel, will you be getting a wax and masage while everyone else sweats it out in their tents? :)

If I get a new job before then I will be there :thumleft: September 1st is a very busy time at work with all the new cars comming out so no one is allowed time off 1 - 2 weeks before or after the 1st plus with the 1st being on monday it makes it even harder getting the weekend off :(

Now Im just praying an IT job pops up before then :mrgreen:

Really dissapointing this one. It'll be the first time in many years that I'll have missed JAE, but miss it I will. One road in, one road out, salt water, too far from most places... the list goes on.

The organisers just haven't given thought to this. They're panicked, and chosen the first venue suggested to them. It's a real knee-jerk reaction.

I'm out... :(

We are currently discussing the event in the 'Organisers Forum' and decisions on tickets/prices/food/drink etc etc will be made over the next few weeks. Rest assured it is our intention to make this years JAE the best yet as the location offers us a whole new opportunity. We have had it confirmed that this years 'MR2 Village' will be adjacent to the beach so there is a possibility of a beach party., will need to look at logistics, tides etc etc.
Also worth thinking about is the fact that this year JAE is a 3 day event starting on the Friday.
There is entertainment already booked on the Friday night by the JAE organisers, a band called 'Definitely Might Be', a tribute band to Oasis and i quote:-
We have confirmed and booked the best Oasis tribute band in the UK for Fridays live entertainment at JAE.

The band, called ' Definitely Might Be ' , a 5 piece professional outfit will play 2 x 45minute sets in the Canteen hall on Friday night starting at 8pm.


There will be other announcements made shortly.

I visited the site at the 'Pre Event Meet' a couple of months back and i saw no cause for concern. The site is VERY well laid out and is actually bigger than the East of England showground. The road when i crossed it with others was bone dry, this is obviousley tide dependant. The site itself i saw no evidence of salt water anywhere.
They have a hall/restaurant where there will be a cooked english breakfast available in the mornings, evening entertainment, a 'hard standing' show and shine area (no dust bowl), large car plots with adjacent camping, a family camping area(no noise), and a beach! It might not be the ideal geographical location but you cant please everyone. Personally, if it was the other end of the country i would attend and make a proper weekend of it.

To be honest, by the time the venue was cancelled I doubt it left the organisers much choice. Given the size of JAE and the type of ground it required it must have been difficult to find somewhere of sufficient size to host the event.

The organisers have found a ground which means that the show will survive, which if they cancelled it for this year would make it extremely difficult.

Yes its a long way from most places. But you are never going to please everyone when getting a venue at short notice. The event is for four days now, so longer event, so why does it matter if you travel a bit further?

I have done, and known people drive from the South Coast to TOTB in York - FOR THE DAY. Thats over 600 miles in day. So why worry about 300 miles to a venue, three nights of drinking and fun followed by 300 miles home?

Yes its a bit further / lot further for a lot of people and I sympathise, but you can't please everyone and at least the show will be going ahead.

One road in and one road out - the same as EOE showground. The road in is the same size as a normal A road as I understand.

Salt water - so what? Never driven your car ot the seaside? Its not going to rust if exposed to salt water for a few days. Take it home and give it a wash - job done!

nope - it has never been that for the mr2 village.

You need to put your name down on the list, and closer to the time send money to imoc for your ticket, as this will include entry to the mr2 village for food etc.

you can pay on the gate (as can any outsider /joe public) but this will cost more and will not be for a club stand pass.

nope - it has never been that for the mr2 village.

You need to put your name down on the list, and closer to the time send money to imoc for your ticket, as this will include entry to the mr2 village for food etc.

you can pay on the gate (as can any outsider /joe public) but this will cost more and will not be for a club stand pass.


Thats not the case as far as I am aware :-k

You can pay on the gate and if there's room on the IMOC stand then you'll be allowed on.

Yes we have a set number of places, but there is generally room for more vehicles and they will be parked accordingly.

HOWEVER, it does help to know if you are coming so these things can be considered.
