Hey Thanks for all the kind comments! To be honest it's a bit of a pain to own now as I daren't drive it in the wet and am paranoid when I am out in it about stone chips, fly splats, dings and scrapes - not really enjoying it like I thought I would.

What's worse is I am emigrating to Bahrain in August and have no idea what to do with it now as I don't own a home here anymore and storage is just SO expensive.

There is a guy on The SXOC doing a full restoration of a Nissan 200SX in his garage. He's totally nuts. He's re-plating all the nuts and bolts individually, everything is being properly rust proofed from the bare metal up, it's simply stunning and is taking literally thousands of hours. How he finds the time I don't know!

That sounds like my mate Petrol, except that he's doing the work on his drive.

This is an amazing resto for sure! Did similar job to a MK1A/B crossover, 1a engine side vent front end interior but with b model side skirts. Started as head gasket failure and ended up costing over 12k in 97-98 and had lots of parts replaced with new including suspension and had front discs custom machined. Engine cost huge amount to get work done as little (well not as much as now) was known about what could be done with them. Engine was fully blue printed and highly tuned. Body was a full glass out panel off restoration with many new parts including new glass where I cracked some taking them off . Car once finished never turned a wheel as got back into sports bikes in a big way, good news is it still sits in my garage looking rather good, and have just got new piper cams and some 20v ITBs to finish the engine off and then it should be good to go. Next up is my tintop SC thats getttign same treatment with new panels all round and an interesting engine "tune" at the same time. I can see this was definatly a labour of love and well worth the time effort and money thrwon at it. Would love to see this in the flesh one day as looks truely amazing.

Man that is a lot of work to do just to have it sit in the garage! I understand the need to do a good resto job and i fully appreciate the work that goes into them, but i could never have a perfect mk1 sat in my garage without driving it - thats like some form of torture

I totally agree fella and once the cams and throttle bodies are in place and its been mapped it will be used for sure. Unfortunatly its one of those things in life where time becomes an issue, used my tintop SC as daily drive for about 18 months between jobs with company cars, now got comapny car again but no time for now and anytime I do get is spent on my bikes but the 1a is defo going on the road this year and may well do a track day or 2 as the car is perfectly set up with suspension and brakes for track fun and the engine should be fairly ptoent as well! I knwo ti seems a waste but it will get used but in the mean time its staying perfecly stored away from the elements for a gloroisu return to driving sometime real soon.
