mongoose exhaust - mk1

Post by jb007 »

want the mongoose as it seems to be the cheapest and most subtle (want more noise than standard but dont want it to sound like a boyracer mobile!)

cheapest i can find is:

http://www.jap-spec-performance.co.uk/M ... haust.html

can anyone confirm that this is the best i will find it for? looking to order it today as my mechanic has free time monday-thurs to fit it :thumleft:

i did try a search but for some reason the page keeps timing out and wont load grrrrrrrr

thanks in advance, jon.

Can anyone confirm if this is in fact a fairly quiet system? I could be interested in one too and like jb007 I don't want to turn my car into something that sounds like a boy racers car! The other system I've heard good reports about is the Racetech if anyone has any feedback on that too? I also want something with twin tail pipes like the original and as close to the original diamater as I can get if that's possible, for the same reasons as already mentioned! Thanks in advance :)

yep Mongoose and or Magnex as they are pretty much one and the same system, give a nice sound but not "look at me!!" loud
with a few extra BHP thrown in
deffinately a can't go wrong choice

Thanks for that :) Has anyone got a picture of the back of their car with either of these fitted? Also does anyone know if the tail pipes are the same diamater on both or is one any smaller than the other? I think the Mongoose and the Racetech are both twin 3" round but not sure about the Magnex however I can soon search and find out.

If you're looking to buy one Jap-spec are currently doing a group buy on them saving you a decent amount.
I'm seriously considering one myself...

Yup, it's a very good price at the moment from the group buy.

As for looks, my sis has a Magnex on her Mk1 and it looks pretty close to standard in my opinion, bar the Magnex sticker on the side.
I've just had a look on my server but don't currently have any photos of it online...

Mongoose are 3" and magnex 2.5" tailpipes

I have Magnex...looks bigger than standard, sounds quiet but nice note too.

As for loudness my race car with a magnex (the same as mogoose) was 96db at 3/4 rpm.

ive just seen this post lol

sorry for my lateness lol

we are the market leaders in mr2 exhausts.

the mongoose is an excellent system

and is the same system as the magnex but with different tail pipes made in the same factory.

so your getting magnex quality at mongoose prices :thumleft:

we do have the group buy on the now but our normal day to day prices are nothing to be laughed at either lol :thumleft:

I think I like the look of the Magnex better with it's slightly smaller tail pipes but what's the Magnex emblem on them and can it be removed without leaving any marks/damage? Has anyone tried, is it just a sticker or a metal plate?

think its just an aluminium sticker so can be removed
infact my own magnex doesn't have one on

Thanks for that Kevin :) Can anyone else with a Magnex confirm this? Thing is I've also been told it may be a metal plate that's welded on?
