[Mk2] [Turbo] First post, What revision loom do i need to buy?

Post by madr2turbo »

Ok a big hi to all from me and I hope you guys can help.

Question, do I buy the correct loom for the car if I can correctly identify it as rev1 or 2.

or do I buy the the correct loom for the engine if I can correctly identify it as rev1 or 2 engine.

I hope some one can help, charlie.

post a pic of the engine and somebody can identify it's revision. 1990 should be a rev 1 car.

edit : oh, and change the thread title, a lot of the techie's won't look at this when it says its about a private plate LOL

Ok getting some where now.
1. The car is a rev1.
2. The engine is a rev2.
3. The ecu is a rev1 unit.
Any ideas on how to get it to run do i need a rev1 loom or a rev2 loom.

Both pics show engine with AFM.

SO....

1st example is REV1. Tapered pipe on throttle body and single vacuum pipe.

2nd example is REV2. It's difficult to tell from that photo if the pipe is tapered or straight. However, it has twin vacuum pipes and IIRC this indicates REV2.

Thanks Grajey any ideas on which wiring loom i should buy for the car.
Am i right in thinking a rev2 loom would be best for a rev2 engine even though the cars now identified as a rev1.
And is there a chance it could be a celia lump, is there any way of telling or does it not mater.
Thanks again, charlie.

thought only real difference between the mr2 engine and celica would be the ceramic turbo on the mr2 and the ecu. Use a mr2 ecu and it should be the same.

Might be wrong though :)

Ok i will check the turbo tomorow,

Will i need the looms and ecu from a rev2 to fire it or will my rev1(89661-17321) ecu be ok with a rev1 loom if a can track one down.

Thanks guys.

you can use either loom as long as you have the complete loom
ie you can use a rev2 engine loom but only if you use a rev2 chassis loom ( to passenger footwell)
like wise with rev1 engine loom with rev1 chassis loom
using a rev2 enine loom with a rev1 chassis loom will not work even with the coreect ecu for the engine loom .there are a number of different pins between the years
hope that clears that up
