What to do ?

Post by coverco »

I have just picked up another MK1 which I got off Ebay. It has a couple of months MOT so I will use it as a run around until I finish my major body refurb on my main car.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=003

My problem is the parts on the car are worth quite a bit, Koni shocks and springs, Mongoose, Twosrus rear tie rods, new drop links and a really nice set of MK2 leather/ alcantera seats. Should I just swap the parts onto my car and then break it or put the old parts from my car into this one and sell it, answers on a post card please :)

The body work needs a bit of work but nothing I can't sort, the engine is great.

Hmmmmm decisions, decisions :-k

If you can get it through an MOT at little cost then it's worth swapping all the shiny goodies for the standard bits off your car then selling it on. If getting an MOT is going to be a hassle then just breaking it will probably be easier.

Oh and dibs on the rear tie rods ;)

From the ebay description it sounds far too good to break, so I'd go with swapping over the bits and selling it on as a runner

I reckon that is what I will do, it looks as though it will be fairly easy to get it through an MOT and the suspension and other bits are easy to swap. I guess with a 12 month MOT I should get back what I bought it for and get £5-600 worth of parts for free, you really have to love Ebay :thumleft:

It is in reasonable condition, but I am surprised no-one else bid on it. There are receipts for the Konis, exhaust and a new rear caliper totaling over £600 and the seats are absolutely immaculate, even if I swap all the good bits onto my car I will still get what I payed for it :thumleft:

There is even a set of new drop links in the boot, think I got a bargain :D

One other interesting thing is the full owners pack with fuel consumption leaflet 47mpg at a constant 56mph and 37mpg at a constant 75mph.

Tommy,
Looks better than I pictured in my head.
In fact it looks better than the Ghimp.

I think you should definately swap the Konis over and the exhaut if its better than yours. Any other bits you may like from it
Then fix the bottom of the rear arch etc,
get a a new mot
Advertise in Autotrader for £999 (ebay is a buyers market)
see what you get offered

or fix it up as good as you other 1b and Ill buy it from you :)
