[Mk2] [Generic] BEST INTERIOR AT NIGHT EVER!!! *PICS*

Post by jimGTS »

well this weekend i finally got to fitting my gaugeplace stelph 4 52mm gauges...
along with my extremely rare to see Omori 3x52m DIN plate that i ordered direct from Japan.......

boost
oil temp
oil pressure
water temp

boost, ive hooked up to my greddy piller pod,all working nicely, but the others ive only hooked in the power, as i didnt have time to hook up the sensors for these gauges, all of which are in my DIN space....

ENJOY!! they look friggin AWSOME at night, pics dont do them justice!

red lighting interior now complete to give an awsome stelph appearance day and night, cause with the guages off there like Defi ones, just pitch black....(tho you cant see this as the flash from the camera captured the inner details) WELL HAPPY!

big thumbs up from nick at gaugeplace who helped with my many many questions!

list of bits done

red led lighting (heater controls, window switchs, ignition ring)
red bulb lighting (interior light)
red clock
red footwell neons
speedhut black/red gauges
power fc commander
greddy profec spec 11
x4 gaugeplace autogauges
black painted dash
TRD gearknob
MOMO steering wheel
MOMO pedals
UK Leather seats and door cards
orginal toyota mats..

Very nice. The footwell neons arn't personnally to my taste, but I like the rest of it.

How much effort is it to change the clock and heater control bulbs for LED's?

Looks great to me. :thumleft:

Must say, one of the most disappointing things about the Mk2 MR2 is how dreary the interior looks at night.
My 5-series bimmer was older than my 2 but was very nicely lit by lots of dull orange lights.
The MR2, with it's combination of green bulbs and sickly white dials reminds me of my old Allegro, sort of.

One of the mods I have planned for my 2 is to fit some lights under the dashboard. I don't want them on all the time. Just when the doors open. I think that it's really handy the way you can see where you're putting your feet in modern cars.

OTOH, I have a double-DIN Kenwood CD/DVD/Satnav gizmo in mine and I thought it was terrific until I first used it at night, at which point I had to pull over and fiddle with the controls until I could get it to turn the screen off after a few seconds, like a screen-saver.
I could get the brightness to dim easily but, even so, it was a huge block of light and was very distracting. Fortunately Kenwood were smart enough to make it so the screen will switch off 5 seconds after you touch a button.

Looking good Jim, how did you get the dash to be blue and red? Also where did you end up putting your oil temp gauge sensor?

please note everyone that its nowhere near this bright in real life....the blur and glow in the pictures is purely down to the crappy camera and it not being able to focus properly.....
its much more refined/detailed and nowhere near as harsh on my retinas as the shots make out....
looks fri88ing awsome!
certainly not distracting as the shots would suggest...put that down to the camera imo...
the gauges in the shots look bright, but thats down to the blur, there very sharp and subtle in the flesh.
if you look at the flash shots, you get an idea of how clear and detailed the digits are, everything has a blur on these shots, its the best i could get with the camera i used.

ill have to get some shots when its dusk so theres a bit of daylight but still quite dark and i should be able to get some clearer more detailed shots....

thanks tho....

oil temp, nothing hooked up yet....may just pop it in the oil pressure location now i think.
