[Mk2] [Turbo] HKS foam filter

Post by dawolf »

Hi all. I have a HKS foam induction kit which has probably been on for years. It's starting to look a bit discoloured now. Is it possible to clean the filter or do you have to change it?

Cheers.

you can buy replacements for them - the older style one was a great filter for letting everything in - it wasnt much of a filter.

^^^ what he says, as far as filtration goes you'd be better off with an old sock.

I have one on my N/A and i'm not impressed by the amount of crap this thing lets in and its the 'newer' HKS SPF 'reloaded'.

nikk1877 says - dont bother with a replacment foam element, just get a new filter and preferably not HKS. :thumleft:

I've got the HKS filter fitted to my NA (previous owner put it on there).

I picky my new tubby up in a couple of weeks, and a new filter will probably be one of the first mods.

I was thinking of getting the Apexi (unless anyone knows a filter that comes with a purdy polished induction pipe included in the kit!)

Filters

HKS are rubbish, you will find grit n stuff in the intake tract for sure.

Anything even the cotton ebay specials do a better filtering job than HKS filters.

Anything is better basically, personally I think K&N do the best filteration and provide good airflow for the cash.

i gave my hks away as there the worst air filter i've ever seen in my life and i've been modding cars for years. I would rather use a sponge from the £1 shop

on a n/a i would use K&N and on a turbo a apiex

sorry about spelling can't remember how to spell the names

I dont think the HKS is that bad really, you do need to change the element regularly tho.. like with every oil change.

Yes a good filter thread but does not mention HKS in it anywhere which is the primary focus of this thread.
