[Mk2] [Turbo] Just A Few Questions About Fuses

Post by dmhoward82 »

Hey Guys

I am trying to get a pic put up of the fuse box in my tubby but not having much luck... as I was looking yesterday and noticed that there was one missing marked TRC a 30A fuse???
I put one in and noticed the temp dial in the dash was reading alot cooler than normal infact it hardly moved when I was driving (where usually it sits at just under half way once heated up) but when I stopped in traffic it moved up a lil say qtr of the dial then soon as I got on my merry way again it went back down NOW im thinking that the TRC fuse I put in may have something to do with this.

Can anyone tell me what TRC stand for and would I be best to leave the fuse out or not ?????

Thanks

Dan

You'll find TRC is Traction control and it's a bit strange that it affects the temperature gauge.. :-k

i cant explain the temperature thing, but if it does relate to the Traction control then just because it's on the fusebox doesnt necessarily mean you have it

car manufacturers normally have one or 2 fuse boxes that they fit in all their vehicles, it would be too cost prohibitive to make loads of different ones, so they make generic ones for the whole range and then leave the slots for fuses blank for all the things your particular car doesnt have

If a TRC warning light doesn't come on with the others when you turn on the ignition you probably don't have it. Do you have ABS? TRC requires it, so if you don't have ABS, you def don't have TRC.

The temperature gauge thing sounds exactly like a thermostat stuck open. But the fuse couldn't break your thermostat lol.

Like iblis said if the trc light doesn't show then likely you don't have it. Could also check for a trc switch by your other fog switches and check to see if you have the unit itself on the throttle body which obstructs access to spark plug.
