[Mk2] [NA] G-Ltd insurance

Post by steve b »

Finding most on-line sites won't quote me or want more than Sky have quoted for a 300bhp turbo. I'm going to go and see one today, do people know if Sky gives good quotes for the g-ltds?

They came out at £741 with 0ncb (new policy) for a 1994 turbo modded to 300bhp, so for an n/a I wouldn't expect to pay more than £400, but I want to make sure first.

I'm 26 with 7 yrs NCB and paying £700 a year with Tesco for my G-Limited. However, I've been quoted £620 with A.Flux and just slightly more with Sky and that's for a turbo. It's silly.

damn, that may put paid to getting the one i'm seeing today then. I just did confused and everywhere that would quote came out at £610 / £680. Thats just silly, £100 more for a modded turbo

When I had my UK n/a I was 5 years younger with 1 year ncb and a claim and it was £550 fully comp for a car vauled at over double. I was hoping sky would take in the fact i've 4 years ncb on my honda and run the Eunos on classic where you don't get ncb's but if you've 7 years and you still get quotes like this then not much hope for me to get a lower one :(

I have my Eunos on low mileage, its a big saving. UK MR2's massively cheaper for me it appears even after going to all the specialists, cheapest I can get a rev2 G-Ltd for is £550, same age, same value UK car £335 and then I have a list of about 10 insurance companies that are all under £400 most with £150 excesses, the £550 quote for a g-lts have a £450 excess, then they range from £550 to £900 and only about 4 companies give quotes like this, main stream ones are more £1100 ish which is stupid when a specialist will do a 300bhp tubby for £741.

Try firebond on a classic limited mileage policy,NIG is the insurance company firebond is the broker (most brokers have quoted NIG as the company used)
Quotes are on a 1990 import G_limited ,declared mods are exhaust , alloys ,front spoiler,
I'm twice your ages though  6 points and no no claims as ive had classic policy's for 8 years ,two windscreen claims,
agreed value on your description with no photos or any evidence needed

Policy came in at £186+£15 classic valuation charge+£20 brokers fee total £221 with optional national breakdown recovery at £76,
limited to 5000 miles parked off road

Tried SKY couldn't touch it and they have a minimum policy of £250 before they start and are not currently doing agreed values
Tried Adrian flux couldn't touch it and didn't bother to quote
Tried Swinton £636
Tried Academy came in at £295 but not agreed value they don't do imports on classic policy's,but didn't mind the Mods or convictions
all the above were priced this morning a company called life sure put me on to all these brokers plus a couple more courtsey of SKY after they couldn't match Firebond
if anyone needs their number i can post it ,should be worth a try
