I think you can salvage that...you need the water to dry out which will take a month but you can use a vax which will suck it all dry and I'm sure it can be rescued.

Try and do as Danny says mate. Some good advice there for the interior.

The motor is tough as old boots mate. Mine injested around two pints of rain water the other week, but when I drained it and changed the oil it started sweet as a nut.

Engine should be fine and so should the gear box, most the electrics should be ok as they are insulated.

I would get it on dry land, pull all the interior out and dry it off in a garage or in your house with a wet and dry vacume cleaner.
If the engine oil is still oil then that should be ok as no water has got in it.

the gear box has a breather plug so that might have let water in the box so get that checked.


You can rip out the interior in no time and the boot liner etc, then just dry off the bare metal.

Get some hair dryers and dry the dash out if that was submerged.

After all the effort you put in its got to be worth the fight.

been thinking long and hard about this.

ive got no choice but to let the car get written off catD, then buy it back. dry it out, and use the claim money to sort it out.

im not giving up yet.

just looking at the pic again, water has prob gone in through the exhaust and entered the cylinders through turbo, before you even attempt to start it, take all the spark plugs out and turn it over to get the water to out the cylinders through the spark plug holes.

If you try and start it with water in the cylinders you will compression lock and blow the block or the pistons/head.

definatly m8. will do an oil change thenthe plugs will come out, i have gearbox oil that i was going to put in b4 the flood, so may as well do that too.

insurance cant come out to see the car untill next week though, and im on holiday . this is going to take a long time!
