[Mk2] [NA] Drop links

Post by tank »

Firstly apologise if this has been posted before,

The time has come to get new drop links, i've seen some on camskill for cheaper than i have seen elsewhere.

Are turbo drop links the same as n/a ones for the specific rev,e.g (turbo rev 1/ and rev 1 n/a etc) or are they different.

Finally do you need different drop links if the car has been lowered, or does this not get affected.

Sorry for obvious lack of knowledge
Thanks in advance

Genuine Toyota Front and price (not expensive as you think):
www.flashmetal.com/ind...T&catid=32

Genuine Toyota Rear and price:
www.flashmetal.com/ind...T&catid=64

Thing to remeber with droplinks is that your original Toyota ones have given you 10-16 years of service so when compared with aftermarket cheaper ones they are good value - especially the rear ones :-)

Alternatively if you really hard up:

FRONTS: (Toyota Part# 48820-17040 65.21 each)
================================
PartCo for (Quinton Hazel Part No: QLS3313S) for £15.44 incl VAT each
or from:
Halfords (Firstline Part no. FDL6605) for £9.54 each incl VAT.

In both of the above you will be required to hacksaw off about 10mm from the threaded stud but the saving would more than pay for a new hacksaw! LOL!

BACKS: (Toyota Part# 48830-17050 £48.55 each)
=====
PartCo for (Quinton Hazel Part No: QLS3251S) for £17.71 incl VAT each
or from:
Halfords (Firstline Part no. FDL6447) for £18.69 each incl VAT.

I got those ones last time. They required some persuasion (with a hammer) to get them on as the threads are too long.

You just have to hacksaw off about 10mm - see comparison here (click on bottom right hand corner pic to enlarge):

Tanks for the info guys,

Just need to decide how to spend my money...is it a case of buy cheap twice?

Granted the original toyota ones have seen 15/16 years service, sadly doubt the car will be around that much in the future so will the cheaper ones do do the same job but for potentially less time?

thanks

I'd say that it'll be more like buy cheap thrice. But as you say, depends how long the car'll be around :wink:

Personally I'd recommend going for the Toyota ones, and Jeff (flashmetal.com) is as cheap as you're likely to get them. For one thing they can be a pain to change as the bolts rust and frequently need to be cut off. But, when I got mine I just plain didn't have the cash, and the old ones were knackered.

Hello there,
hope i'm not too late but I bought a pair of rear drop links from a shop on ebay (shop name is "Import Car Parts Japanese Car Parts)
Seller ID markicp contact number is 01388 834204
www.importcarparts.co.uk

These fit pefrectly, no drilling or sawing required, identical to the original toyota ones I removed from the car, cost me £34.90 +£4.99 for P+P

Would def recomend these if your looking for an easy swap, i'll post a picture if anyone wants to see them on the car.

hope it helps.
