'Mint' is quite a loose term, have never understood what people mean by this?? :-k

*edit* under a grand and not 'mint' - whatever it means, but highly original

ok, % of car in really really really good condition for its age.

edit: "that'll teach me to watch me inglish,

Idiom: Mint condition: Idiom Definition/ Meaning:

* If something is in mint condition, it is in perfect condition.

fair enough bit near perfik.

Good thread, I wont be divulging how much I have paid for my (3) scs... thats my business, nobody elses ... I do have an eye for a bargain though

I can tell you what I sold them for though:

1)Tin top sc, good chassis, fair to middling body work, non running engine, LED spolier, wing mirrors, sc rear lights + many performance extras removed & sold seperately. £1400 for the car

2) Tin Top sc good chassis, good bodywork, no engine, box, lsd, hubs, drive shafts, LED spolier, rear lights + flip foglights removed £1000

3) T bar SC will be forsale in the near future, price not decided yet

ps, I'm sure Wayne Duncan will be along shortly, he used to import and sell SCs... I doubt he sold them for under £3k!

Dont get me wrong , I admit there are bargains out there... I should know, I've picked up three of them!

You do tend to find a few more extras on SCs, which make the price more variable..

For example, air conditioning, or air-con + climate control - electric folding wingmirrors, high level spoiler brake light, LSD, and then the SuperEd (with different seats and wingmirrors and t-bars and bumper and paint job and so on)

Then there are the after-market modifications (or lack of)
what about the diamond cut teardrops?
what kinds of wheels/tyres does it have?
big pulley? - which one?
original intercooler?
original suspension?
aftermarket suspension - what kind?
water injection?
Stereo?

and so on and so forth, it's like comparing apples with oranges IMO (and there is more to go wrong)

True but the question is if you have an sc, when was it bought and for how much (don't be shy). I wanna know where all the £3k plus SC's are. I have tracked down as many as I could find since buying mine, there have been a few on ebay, here, other club sites, piston heads, etc etc and from memory none were over 3K, in fact some had different prices depending on where they were placed.

Sorry I was being facetious  I'm glad you clarified 'mint', its a pity most using that term in relation to a vehicle's worth rarely apply any honesty  oh btw mines far from mint presently :D

Tbh seen price tags of £3.5k in the past year on really pampered SC's - not heard of many getting that sort of price. Prices overall seem very deflated overall for mk1's presently. :(

£2350 Super Edition too. Best known example in the UK. ;)

50K miles at the time.

95% mint.

Wonder what its worth now? Will never be sold though. Reckon Mark's would make over 4K no problem.

I too have seen SCs advertised at the 4.5K mark, but i seriously doubt they made that kind of money.

Ollie, why wouldn't you divulge what you paid for yours? I never really understand coyness over what you pay for a car.

My own measure of mint would be a cars condtion relating to its originality; by this I mean a truly mint example would be in close to showroom condition as possible but not be means of restoration - by this scale I guess mines not even in the running. Of course like Alex suggested value is also determined by many other factors.

Ours (well Mark's) really is very original, no wheelarches done or anything like that. All OEM too. Has not been restored at all.

Yep, he did really. Bought it 4 years ago. The guy had it up for 2.5K not really knowing what it was as such. Mark knocked him down on price a bit.
