I think everyone might agree that there are a tiny fraction of cars that are actually investments! My MR2 could eat £3-£4k and only put a few hundred on its value.

And in this instance; a 30,000 mile MR2 in immaculate condition, that has still had regular oil changes and stored properly, is a car that is going to be worth more money and appeal to me more than one with 150k on the clock.

Ive just bought the engine , gearbox & centre armrest console from a 52k helios blue t-bar mk1 in a scrapyard in surrey, the car was in lovely condition, one lady owner from new.... except she decided to follow a car over a pedestianised area & the rising bollard came up under the car & crumpled the floor pan, the insurance company wrote it off !! it really was a lovely car, shame really, but at least i now have a spare engine for emergencies & a great low mileage gearbox ready to go on before JAE \:D/ \:D/ Oh theres a Fidanza flywheel going in at the same time too \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ , JInxy

My mk1's only done 35000 from new.Thinking about it though, that's probably because it's been off the road for six years

Not long to go now Stuart \:D/

Every mk1 I've had recently has turned into a garage ornament!! I don't think they suffer too much mechanically if ther're turned over periodically. My first one was off the road for a total of seven years, with a brief interlude where I drove it 25 miles across the island to the guy who restored the bodywork , a year before it returned to the road without any hitches.

Nice find Jinxy, I can't imagine how that owner must have felt when a bollard lifts you into the air!

Definately not the way to go!
