[Mk2] [NA] Brash Boy Apexi PFC for BEAMS

Post by nikk1877 »

I'm itching to buy one of these BrashBoy PFC's for my Beams next month.

http://www.brashboy.net/english/power_fc/main.html

Just wondering, where would be the best place to get it mapped. It'll be getting plugged into a stock beams, although while I'm at it, I might get an intake kit from these guy's too.
(near the bottom of page)

All I'm aiming to get from the re-map, at the moment, is to regain the lost ponies. It's running at 186.5 just now and its also running rich at the top end.(the AFR reading reached 10.8@7490rpm on the dyno graph from Dastek if that means anything to anybody)

I thought about seeing if I could get it mapped at Dastek and thats where I had it RR'd on theMR2OC RR day.
But when I asked the guy about mapping vvti he didn't seem very keen at all.

The PFC will have a base map for the vvti to work from.

Any opinions/suggestion would be great.

Cheers

Hi Nick,

We'll map it for you. We're well acquainted with both the PowerFC and the BEAMS VVTi engine. In fact we're building a big power turbocharged BEAMS engine right now!

Drop me a line if you want some more information.

Best regards,

Just a quick question regarding the coolant temp sensor for the PFC.

You mentioned in our phone conversation that the best best place for the sensor would be in the stock location(obviously  LOL)
but I cant find the stock one probably because I don't know what it looks like.
But anyhow, I did find this -

Image

Its appears to be a similar sensor to the one I have for the PFC, but it wires upto nowhere and is located about 2/3 inches down the coolant pipe, before the radiator cap. Looks like someones maybe had a coolant temp guage?.
So here's the 'quick question', will I get away with fitting the new coolant temp sensor in this location? Bearing in mind I will have to leave the stock sensor in place as this PFC conversion runs both ECU's - for some reason.

Hope this makes sense Lyndon.
Any help greatly apprecciated.

Cheers

Nick.
