[Mk2] [Turbo] TD04 Turbo
Will this turbo fit on an mr2 in place of the CT26 and will it be better if it was done.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] TD04 Turbo
not without alot of conversion parts.

toyota were very cleaver when they made there turbo, only a turbo turbo will fit.
every aftermarket turbo will have a different bolt footprint on the manifold and downpipe, as well and totally different coolant and oil connectors.

Not the easiest of jobs, thats why companies like myself make full conversion kits to allow aftermarket turbos to be fitted to the mr2.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] TD04 Turbo
coolant and oil lines and adapters should be easy to get them to fit as long as you have the patience.

the turbo itself? just need the right flanges, not many turbos have the downpipe flange the same as toyotas, just get your downpipe and get some good welder to weld a good flange on there to bolt onto the new turbo.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] TD04 Turbo
adaptor to manifold is going to be the hardest as your not ment to weld steel to cast iron as the difference in expansion properties causes cracking

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] TD04 Turbo
indeed, but its so hard to find a rev3 after-market manifold all the ones i ever ever see on ebay are the stupid 9 bolt ones!

and if i do see a rev3 one its costs an arm and a leg, and a few toes on the other foot too.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] TD04 Turbo
i do have to ask why go to all the agro for a td04 anyway, the td05 only pushes out around 330bhp on our cars anyway so the smaller td04 can't be the same or maybe even less that a normal run of the mill GEN 3 ct20b upgrade.

Just seems alot of work to me for very little gain.
