[Mk2] [Turbo] which wire controls the rev counter

I am trying to connect an aftermarket rev gauge and dont know where to start. I need to know which wire controls the rev counter in the dash?

i think your best bet would be to run a new wire from the ecu to the front

Take a feed from behind the dashboard. Actually on the rear of the instrument binnacle itself, locate the screw labelled "IG-" on the back of the rev counter and use a ring terminal. No wires to cut, job done!

Whats the difference between the ig- & the ig+

IG- is the tacho signal, IG+ is the igntion switched 12v live.
