I thought that if we didnt have enough numbers confirmed and provisional by jan 28th it was going to be opened to anyone?

Well ultimately that decision rests with Johnny. If he doesn't think enough MR2s have signed up he will definately open it up to all and sundry.

I was chatting to him about this on sunday.

If we want this to be an MR2 only day we need people to put their money where their mouth is and get booked!

Hi Everyone,

Just spoke to Jonny and he is now going to open the event to all.

So as an MR2 owner, if you haven’t booked already, book your place ASAP and if possible confirm (pay) to guarantee your place in the event.

For those of you who have pre-booked, to guarantee your space you need to confirm by paying.

I was hoping for more booking so we can have a cracking MR2 day, and I hope the advert in MR2 Only magazine will generate a bit more MR2 booking, but in order not to have the day cancelled, Jonny has to open the event to all today.

Looking forward to meeting you all… :D

I appreciate its an MR2 owner club event, hence why I am asking (just before some sarky ass states the obvious)

Cheers

Hi James,

If you visit bookatrack.com, you should now be able to book (or soon) as the event is now open to all..

Novices welcome. Remember everyone was a trackday virgin at some point! ;)

Donington is a good novice track, lots of room and reasonably wide and well sited.

car limit that bookatrack operate at Donington is 30 cars on track at a time.

I'm not sure if i will be there though will try to make it. Am happy to give some 'pre-instruction'. Bookatrack always have an instructor on site that can be booked.

With lots of nice fast corners with gravel / tyre walls waiting for your mistake. I wouldn't call it the smartest first track for an idiot like me but if you are extra sensible i'm sure you'll be ok.

I've said before I'll come down and give you a whack if you don't get that out on track soon Harry, good opportunity.

well i think donington is a fairly good bet compared to other circuits. Cadwell for example is not a beginners circuit.

You have to get it pretty badly wrong at donny to be hitting tyre walls. Gravel won't do any real damage for the most part.

I've seen more than one over the gravel and in the tyres on the (unnamed?) flat left after old hairpin and a few span into the wall just coming onto the start/finish straight. Nearly done it myself.

IMHO bedford or silverstone national are very safe first tracks. I'd call Donny an intermediate track and Cadwell et al advanced.

You do have to be trying pretty hard to hit any walls apart from the one at Goddards, and ive seen cars hit that on a few occasions. I think its only a bit harder cos you have to commit to some corners to get decent speed, big kahunas needed.

Lauren, if I bring both my cars do I have to pay twice, even though I can obviously only drive one at a time, just want to get the SC on track for a handful of laps and dont want to pay £195 for that really?

Harry, I know Donny pretty well (10 times last year), so am happy to take you for a few laps in my turbo.

Si,

No, you can drive both cars, but you'll need to get a sticker for it... You won't have to pay twice as obviously you can only drive one car at a time... just mention it Jonny or Sarah when you sign on.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to drop this one. :(

I've got another trackday booked for the day after and I can't afford to do both. :(

I have to be honest but the one thing holding me back from booking this one up is the noise limit! 98db and 100db static should you fail. When they tested my car at TOTB last year it was around 105-106db static

I do have the ability to fit the exhaust bung, and to my ears this does make a fair amount of difference. :?

Anyone been around Donington with a Nur Spec?

As per the other thread i've heard louder cars around donny than a nur'd mr2. With the bung in you should fly by the noise limit.

I'm not sure about BAT but the Donnington days never do static, just driveby out on track.
